Finally moved into the new house (just got broadband setup today, been having withdrawl from av forum:rotfl:) I'm looking to find a big display for one of the converted loft rooms, which from now on I will be calling my Cinema Room:thumbsup:;), Whilst I would love a big Pio to accompany my 428xd the cost really is a bit of an issue. With a budget of around 1.8k any ideas? I'm looking at something which ideally can come close to the kuros for blacks and doesn't have any I.R. I am aware of the LG8000 60 inch display but have heard this suffers badly from I.R. The display doesn't have to be 60 inches so I'm pretty flexible. Any recommendations to add to my audition list?:smashin:

I have the 60PS8000 myself and am delighted with it. I appreciate there are some on this forum who have had problems but that can happen with any piece of electrical equipment.

Mine has been perfect bar 1 stuck pixel which fixed itself after about 2 weeks of usage. Other than that I have not faults with it. The picture for the price is superb. I mainly use it for gaming and some blu-ray and it constantly impresses me.

IMO it's up there with the Panasonics (blacks not quite as good but colour accuracy better) while of course not as good as a Pio. If you really want the best then it would have to be a Pio but for me I could no way justtify the extra £2k or whatever it would be. That'll pay for my holiday to California next year!

If you need any more info etc just let me know

What is your viewing distance.
Also have you thought of a projector, you can get a decent full HD one for that money

I am about to order the 50 inch Panasonic TX-P50V10, having read countless review, threads on here and going to specialist HIFI/TV stores, this seem one of the best for your buck. I can't afford pioneers.

I can get a deal for £1420 Inc 5 yr warranty. I am having it calibrated too another £2-300 and wall mounted so takes me to about £1800.

Just a suggestion but prob too small for you:D

They do make the V10 in 58 and 65 I think, but its alot (£3.5k?? I may be wrong)

Notice you are near my neck of the woods:smashin: Have you had any issues with image retention? I am concerned that this maybe an issue with this display.

Yea, live in Glasgow now but am originally from Newcastle. Just realised I've never updated my details!

You do get a bit of image retention yeah but nothing at all to worry about.

Some examples....

Last night I played Rock band for about 2 hours and afterwards the onscreen graphics (stars etc) were faintly visible on a black screen. However, 2 mins of watching a video and it had gone.

Likewise at the weekend I watched the footy and at half time I could see a faint line of where the score had been. However, once the ad break had finished at half time it had gone.

I'm a heavy gamer and it doesn't bother me.

Mornin' Elvis,

I thought you were going to the Metro Centre to have a butchers at the Pios in LEConcepts?

I double dare you. :)

Go on, you will walk out with a Pio in your wallet :D

Would love to mate, may have a butchers but just can't justify 3 grand on a display.:thumbsdow

My room is around 17ft long by around 8.5ft wide. I have thought about a projector but screen placement would be difficult because of the way the sloping roof.

I was exactly like that until I saw one! I got one, so did my dad. 7k spent in 40 mins.:arty: Best money I've ever spent.:smashin:

I just wish everyone could afford one, then maybe there would be more coming from Pioneer.

Gonna have to be a 60" from that distance I reckon, you could always go to leconcepts and get it on the option 'get the tv now - worry about the payment later'. Go on - you'll kick yourself when they're all gone -

True, when you see one in the flesh against the others, you'll buy one! I certainly did and I'm "Pannyfanny"

Maybe I should change my name to PioProposer..

I was talking to my dad about it this morning, he loves the thing and then some. Me too. Go, have a butchers!

Only Pio I could possibly stretch to is the lx5090. If I could get LEConcepts down to a decent price....;)

Elvis,

I can't recommend them enough. That's what I'm trying to get accross, if you see them set up with all the latest Pannys etc, you'll be walking out with one.. I can say with absolute confidence that you'll love the telly. Did I say telly, well it's more of an instrument. Beautiful.

If you are too far away like me (7.5m long lounge), save your pennies for a Stressless recliner.. I've had one for 5 years and it looks exactly the same as the day I bought it and you can sit for hours with no fatigue.. They are pricey but you know what I'm going to say next; quality is remembered long after price is forgoten blah blah:rotfl:
If you were a good mukka of mine, I'd have dragged you there already.:)
So go before I get my long bit of wood with a nail in the end out :D

What about the Panny P58V10.
The 58 and 65" are just coming out.

Me and me old mate pannyfanny keep going on I know and I'm no way knocking the V10 pana, they're a great set (I was gonna get a 58" when they came out) but after visiting leconcepts and watching the V10, Z1 an kuro pio's side by side I absolutely had to get a pio. Even the Z1 46" couldn't beat it and thats supposed to be the 'cutting edge' for 4K or whatever the exact price is - the pio knocks spots off it when they're next to each other.

After all whats money - cut back on a few parmo's.
