Question Big open room vs small dedicated Home Theater room

Novice Member
Hello guys,

I'm in the process of moving to a new house and I have the opportunity to make a dedicated home theater room. I'm a little hesitant on what I should do and I was hoping you guys could give me some guidance. I would be going for a dolby atmos 5.1.4 system.

Small dedicated room:

- 12 x 9.5 x 7.9 feet
- One side of the room is a big crystal window with a sliding door (leads to a small garden)
- Walls and ceiling would be sound proofed
- Can put a carpet floor

Big open room

- I'd make a living room about 12 x 16 x 7.9
- One side is also a big crystal window with a sliding door
- Don't think there's a point sound proofing
- Wooden floor

I would be buying the Klipsch RP 280 system.

My question would be, how much would sound quality decrease in the bigger open room?

I'm considering it this way just because I would be able to fit in more people and if the sound quality doesn't deteriorate too much I'd be going with that option.

I appreciate any input and advice you guys can give!
