On Monday Denon USA is going to give us big news on the DVD 3800 and DVD A1 (USA 9000)!
Read the last post from DenonJeff on this thred from AVSFORUMS:
    http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?threadid=113747

I hope it is the MPEG chip being replaced, bug free. Or something about PAL-P would also be nice.
He also says something about SACD on the DVD A1 /AVC A1 SR combo, but will not confirm anything yet.

9.50 AM over there and still no news :(

DenonJeff must be having a lie in...
I wish he wasn't so cryptic. I just hope it doesn't mean sending my 3800 back so soon after I've got it.

    My private wish list for any improvement to the A1/3800;
    - a fix for any chroma bug
    - to be entirely firmware based
    - the chance of SACD playback perhaps would be a bonus

Most of all however, i want a multi-region hacked firmware (I guess this has been waiting for this firmware revision first)!

    Regards,
    Ian Guinan

    Hi All,

Any news? I had a quick scout around the AVS Forum but couldn`t find any updates.

That`s not to say that I was searching in the right place though

Isn't it true there is a time difference between U.S. and U.K.?
    Maybe it's an April Fool....

Only 5 hours after us I think, and it's still 15/7/02 whatever part of the world you're in (or 7/15/02 if you prefer ;) )

Still nothing as far as I can see...and no howls of protest either?? What gives??

I heard the news today, oh boy, 10,000 holes in Blackburn, Lancashire....
It's a firmware fix from Japan to ensure chroma bug free operation by 3800 and 9000.

DenonJeff has responded to a query about DVD-A1 upgrade, he imagines the firmware is region specific but is checking with Japan.

New firmware for 2800 Mk1 and Mk11 next too?

    Her is DenonJeff's post:
    "DVD-9000/3800 NEWS...
The rumours have been around recently that we have corrected the 'Chroam Bug' in the DVD-9000 and DVD-3800, and I'm hear to say officially that "IT IS TRUE!". Actually our engineers along with ESS corrected the Bug maybe over a month ago, in fact I am in possession of a Chroma Free 9000 right now. The 'fix' was to be implemented in September when ESS would have full production chips available. This was good news indeed.

But late last week, I was informed from Japan of even better news. Instead of a chip change, they have delivered us a FIRMWARE fix!! The delay in this annoucement was getting the discs and confirming the fix. I have personally corrected 2 3800s and 1 9000 with spectacular results!

So what's next? We are in the process of making discs at this moment to get to our reps and dealers. Unfortunately we are not going to post the fix on the web at this time, the software is not secure, and some folks may be inclined to alter the software, which I don't understand, and cause major problems to the players. Also I am writing the procedure to do the fix.

If you want the firmware ASAP, please PM me with your request, which model you own (software is model specific), model serial number, and your e-mail address. Once I have completed the procedure, I will mail you the firmware and documentation.

Obviously we will have a running production change on new units, when I receive serial numbers I will post, so those waiting to purchase will know they are getting a corrected player. Also since our dealers will have the firmware, they will be able to correct any units in their inventory at the store level.

Regarding DVD-A1, I wouldn't see why the firmware wouldn't work, unless it is region coded. Check with your dealer."

He can't confirm this regarding to region two players, will have to ask our dealers he said.
