I'm presently biamping my speakers with an Arcam 8 (integrated) for HF and an 8P for LF. If I had another 8P, and use one to drive HF and the other for LF could I use the integrated amp to control them or would I need a pre-amp instead?

Yes, just run the preouts from your integrated amp to the first 8P then from that to the second 8P.

I didn't realise it was so simple, thanks. Do you know how you would use the mono link sockets in a set-up like that (one integrated amp plus two power amps)? Do you think adding a second power amp is worthwhile?

What's your opinion of the MF A308?

In a mono setup you would connect the integrated amp to the tweeters on your speakers and then run the left preout to the mono amp connected to the left speaker adn the right preout to the mono amp connected to the right speaker.

I really like my MF A308, hugely powerful and yet beguilingly musical at the same time. I am hankering after their new KW500 amp and so I have my A308 up for sale at the moment for £1200 in mint/new condition with all packaging and accessories. The A308 would annihiliate your Arcam amp for control and transparency. If you are interested then PM me.

    Chris.

By using the RCA sockets labelled Mono Link?

Using a single run of IC between the integrated amp to just one of the Power Amp In sockets of a power amp, with the U-link in place?

An MF amp is long term and then more likely older models. But you never know.

Yes, just a single RCA to RCA cable from preouts on the integrated amp to the input on each mono amp.

The CD33 is a bit more detailed and a little bit more articulate than the CD192. It's also built a lot better. Major hardware differences are the chassis which has very good dampening properties and the separate power supplies for each section which reduces the noise floor even further.
