Having started last October I've finally got my room sorted.

Barco BG801S on a 10ft screen and it really looks pretty damned good. Certainly good enough to keep me going until I can upgrade the PJ.

Everyone who's been over agrees that the room really does need the big screen as a smaller size just looks too small (Room is 42ft X 22ft.

I've managed to acheive fabulous light control (you can't see your hand in front of your face, even in daytime).

    I'm currently using 1280 x 720 @ 72hz for Hi-Def (TS & WM9) clips

Now the big question... What resolutions/refresh rates should I use for:-

    NTSC DVD (TheatreTek)
    PAL DVD (TheatreTek)
    Nebula DTT Card (Currently)
    DScaler
    WM9 & TS Hi-Def files

    Any recommendations?

    Cheers,

    Mark.

Good news on the room, I've seen it, most houses would fit in Mark's cinema

For an 801s really well set up 1280 x720 should be possible but I suspect without an awful lot of work you will have to come lower in order for the image not to start blooming.

The horizontal resolution will have very little bearing on the sharpness of the image for a CRT projector.
I would try something like 1024x600 and see how that looks

    Thanks Roland,

Would that be for NTSC & Pal?

I was thinking in terms of 1080 x 720 NTSC & 1080 x 864 Pal but will try your suggestion first. The problem with CRTs is the need to configure/converge for each resolution & refresh rate so it's not so easy to try loads of different settings.

What refresh rates would you suggest?

    I'm currently using 71.928hz NTSC & 75hz Pal BTW.

    Cheers,

    Mark.

864 will be too high an 801s will not resolve that kind of resoloution.

But have a play and see.

You should be able to copy block from one setting to the other.
