Dare we ask what mpg it does?
Don’t ask silly questions I don’t want to know the answer to 😂

I’m not expecting miracles from £20 😂 I’ll let you know after driving it back down to the beautiful south.
Ok, Fuelly calculated it after the tracked 192 miles (I filled up early due to the erratic fuel gauge) as 18 mpg.

I'm very happy about that. So if my maths don't fail me, that is 54.5997440637 miles for £20.

Struth. I don't think i could cope with sub 30 let alone 20.

Trying to think of the positives.....still much cheaper than going anywhere in a Taxi :D

Oh and it wont please Greta.

Thats 2 already :rotfl:

Well actually it might please Greta :)

a. I’m recycling as I didn’t go for a new car.
b. It is ULEZ compliant

So whilst that only leaves one positive for you 😂

Then again surely you can appreciate the power and torque 😔

Just out of interest, what road tax bracket is it in?

Bizarre, mine is £200 but I'm not ULEZ compliant o_O :D

The system is nuts
Can’t argue with science ;) The system prefers cleaners engine. Yes yours is more frugal but even then it pollutes more 😂

How dare you drive such a polluting vehicle. Think about the poor squirrels

Tried to join @Bl4ckGryph0n in the v8 club but my winning bid on ebay was still below the reserve price. Guess i’ll keep driving the dirty diesel.

Something will come around. It took me a while to find one that is actually where it should be price wise. There are still too many hopefuls out there, and some at just ridiculous high prices just because they are low mileage.

Also some weird and wonderful colours. I’m lucky in regards to range rovers that my “taste” is a bit different drom the common ground. Most still seem to like the grandpa styles with beige piped interiors and lack of tinted windows.

My gosh I love that Ford used to own Land Rover. We had quite some frost overnight. I unfortunately promised to do some work for a friend today so off to the train station and dropping my daughter off for college as well. Push that heated windscreen button, heated rear screen button and the defrost button. Climate controlled seated to “roasting”. And within 1.5 minutes the car was clear. Pretty awesome!

I've made a few little modifications to the computer system on the car :)
  • Activated the DRLs - technically speaking they are sidelights, but with the headlights in auto they would never come on. So now they are always on without the taillights and the rest of the lights are still on auto.
  • Activated the timed heating system - the option wasn't on the onboard system, as per the build sheet configuration it was 'asked' to be switched off. I've now enabled it such that on the mornings I have to get up early the car is nicely warmed up and defrosted :)
  • Enabled the puddle lights - Again this was set to be switched off, yet they were there, so I've activated them. Very nice :)
  • Enabled and then disabled the TMPS - The menu didn't show the TPMS, I enabled it but then realised why it was switched off as a silly previous owner must have left the sensors out of the 22" wheels. There was just a sensor in the spare tire. I'll get some sensors and pair them when I'm due to new tyres.
  • Set the correct wheel size - The car was still set up for the original 20" wheels, I've adapted it to 22" with the correct tyres sizes so the rest of the systems get the right information.
  • Enabled a civilised chirp on lock/unlock - As it isn't a loud beep beep but a nice gentle chirp I quite like getting an audible indication that I've locked it.
  • Cleared errors with the surround camera system - One camera is definitely faulty, but the other two which blue screened sprung back into life; so now I have 5 out of 6 cameras working.
  • Activated easy entry - Easy entry was switched off, now it pulls the steering wheel away and up, and moves my seatback. Lovely...
There are a few other corrections to do to set it up to my liking but that will do just fine, to begin with 👍

EDIT: Oh and put my private plates on it. Can't fault the DVLA they made it so easy. Bought the car on Monday, received the V5 yesterday, removed my plates last Thursday. I did it online this morning and it was updated immediately.

Great work, love a LR- when they're working properly, there's nothing comes close. Sadly when they stop working there's little that comes close to the prices either!

Good luck with it- I had no idea the 2009 cars were so highly spec'd... there's some brilliant forums online for LR full of useful folk

It is an October 2009 car. MY2010+ started in July 2010, which to me marked a considerable change and upgrade to the last run of that model.

And yes definitely some good forums out there.

Very nice indeed. Lot of car for the money. My daughter would love it, stealthy and powerful- her current daily is all black, from wheels to headlining. She did go through a Goth phase whilst in her early teens. Perhaps she never outgrew it. 😁

A fine choice if I may say so Mr Gryphon. I bought one of the first TDV8s when they came out, a Vogue SE. Rupert (for that was his name according to SWMBO) did some 65K miles from new over four years without any problems at all, and I mean - none. It was only pressure from my offspring regarding his environmental credentials, or rather lack of them, that forced his sale.

The amount of doom messages I received from various folk, predicting endless breakdowns, had to be experienced to be believed. All groundless. So I'm sure you shall experience a happy ownership with a wonderful vehicle.

I guess the ride on 22's wasn't as bone shaking as you thought it might have been?
Indeed. It’s actually very compliant. Much more so that our Mercedeses were on 21”. Very pleasantly surprised, especially considering the cheap Chinese tyres on it as well.

Are the tyres on the car noisy? I recently rode in a cab, which was making a horrible noise from the rear end. It increased with speed, sounding just like a bearing rumble, so I pointed it out to the driver, who replied, "nah mate, it's the tyres, they're cheap but legal." I couldn't imagine putting up with that racket, cheap or otherwise.

Yes, they are. I would never ever buy such tyres myself. But noise is relative. The car is very quiet, but as I’ve driven a fair few on Pirelli Verde I know what my next set will be.

I’ve booked mine in for next week to get the gearbox oils changed, and also the supercharger as I can’t see any evidence through the maintenance paperwork.

But then following a spirited drive back home, I got the low coolant light flash on 😬 but then a minute later go off again. Hehehe welcome to Land Rover ownership. It was too hot, and now too dark, to check it out. Wish me luck 😬😭

The coolant was actually low this morning when I checked. Right on the edge, hence it going on and off could make sense.

My slight concern is that coolant shouldn’t go away 😬 Everything else seems fine, but I learned that the water pump on these could become a problem and that something like this could be an early warning sign. I’ll have it checked on Monday when it is in at a specialist for the gearbox and supercharged oil change.

A bit of an irrational niggle this.

My car feels too stealth like. I mean it is fast, seriously fast. And super smooth. But also very very quiet, just hear a bit of supercharged and that is it. Almost an EV experience as the pull is relentless and never seems to stop.

I wouldn’t mind being able to do what I did on our powerboat. I had a switch on that where I could redirect the exhaust through the hull above the waterline. Those two V8s really came alive. But I could also keep it less hooligans like when “granny” came along or we wanted a conversation.

I have found one place that do a switchable exhaust but the dilemma is that it is nearly half the cost of the whole car. 😬

I would love it if I could have a nice V8 burble at idle. Then quiet upto say 2,800 RPM but go above that open the gates of hell 😂

I might have to speak to some people in the next few days.

Friend of mine has a seriously modded Beamer 640 (or is it 650) D.

Had it fitted with an Akrapovic exhaust. Crazy bark on start up. Settled down nicely on tickover /low revs and was mental again above 2-3K.

I didn't ask how much it cost mind (if u cant afford it don’t ask :D ) but i’d have loved one on any car of mine if it was a tad more sensible (quieter untill you really push it).
