BF4 premium on 360 or 720

I cannot wait for BF4 and after spending a total of £80 on the original game and subsequent premium pack I want to get premium straight away. But- 360 or 720..? Obviously I would prefer 720 but is the console going to be around at the launch of BF4..? I can't find info anywhere but would assume it would be an ideal launch title. I don't wanna be hanging around waiting for the 720 whilst everyone else is enjoying it on the 360 but I don't want to have to pay for it twice..!

Interesting, most of that sounds good, 720p though. Having thought about it if there has to be a compromise for performance I'd rather have the 60fps than the 1080p.

I agree. I think that more players and 60fps is more important than the resolution.

Will be interesting to see what the level of detail is like compared to the PC version.

As keen as I am I'm not buying it twice either. I'm only Eagle 50 on BF3 (well about 20k points away) so still plenty of ranking for me to do on BF3 before BF4 comes out on the next gen.

Waits for Dazz, Doctor and Terry to reply.

______________

My peferred platform: I would prefer to wait for the Xbox 720 version, seeing how I don't want to buy two copies of the game.

If DICE/EA came up with a way to transfer your BF stats across platforms, I'm sure that more people would buy multiple copies of the game to play on different machines.

You can already change your weapon setup in battleog so why not be able to retrieve your entire profile from there, regardless of the machine you are using?

It's frustrating since EA is making the Mac version of Sim City 2013 free to owners of the PC version and vice versa so a precedent has been set. I think it would go a long way in terms of community relations for EA to let BF4 be a single purchase that could be played on any platform.

Off course, that would break a habit of a life time so I won't hold my breath.

Valve did something similar with Portal 2. Since the PS3 version used Steam, you got a free copy of the PC game.

I doubt that EA would be so benevolent for BF4. They needed to do something to save face after the major screw up of the Sim City launch and the number of people with both PCs and Macs is probably fairly small.

On steam I can buy games for my mac and have them available for free on PC and with steam's cloud game saves I'm always in sync no matter what machine I'm sat in front of.. Granted there aren't that many games for mac, but I see your point.

But EA/DICE is never going to let that happen with such a money train! Even I had to re buy bf3 when I moved to PC :-(

I don't mind buying a copy for each platform but it would be handy if they allowed a single cross-platform solider profile..

(Ps. Sorry for the semi sensible post)

I'm sure it would be possible via Battlelog. If they allowed multiple soldier profiles and an option to specify which platforms you wanted them to apply to, then people would have a choice. You could have one profile for all platforms, or keep separate ones if you wanted. If you wanted to 'reset' your stats you could just start a new profile - keeping the old one in tact for if you wanted to use it again.

That "leak" is rather old tho, there are a fair few interviews rather than leaks and they all confirm that BF4 is based on the frostbite 3 engine and not 2.5 as per that leak so I thinks its quite hard to take the leak as gospel.

720p at 60fps sounds like like a safe bet tho for unknown new hardware as a launch title where you don't really have much flexibility in launch window.

BF3 does look pretty amazing on the 360, so I have little doubt that now they got the frostbite beta out the way the next release should satisfy us, after all the game plays quite well given the balancing challenges.

I asked @jbripley, one of the senior Battlelog devs if there was any chance of cross platform soldier profiles for BF4. His response was:

"no, we keep them separate for performance reasons and there's not that many people who own the game on multiple platforms."

Ask him if its worth waiting for the 720 version and will that be premium on release if you can.

My Xbox is knackered and won't read discs so its an easy choice for me - next gen! Although, even if my Xbox was still working I'd still go for next gen as I am a sucker for the hype come console launch time :D

The last console launch i actually got excited about was the Dreamcast. Spent rather too much on release day in Basingstoke MVC (remember them) during my lunch break from work... Great console.

360 i got a few months after launch and PS3 about a year after for some exclusives.... only gets used as blu ray player now tho and is a waste of space.
