    I bought on the 27/3/05 Star Trek 5 SE R2 for £6.73 form lookingfordvds.com:
    http://www.looking4dvds.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=15624

This looked like a bargain to me but I'm still waiting (14 days now) even though their website says 1-2 despatch. My account says they are still processing my order even though they have already debited my credit card.

No-one answers their telephone number or replies to my emails.

Should I panic, are they going to be another 'Splashdvd' ?

Has anyone else recently dealt with them?

I've been had as well. I paid £17 via Paypal for 3dvds which has not arrived for two weeks and it seems very unlikely that they ever will. I have made a claim with Paypal so I'll wait and see.

At least with splash I ended up getting some items! :D

Tbh nowadays I only source my dvd’s from a few select e-tailers that I have used and trust.

well I have been waiting 15 days now for Beastie Boys Anthology. Just sent them an email to cancel forth-with and refund my credit card. One reason I gave them the benifit of the doubt was the fact I have waited 4 times longer for an order to be fulfilled by 'DVD not so Soon'. More so the fact that the boxset I was waiting for was not accesiable in the UK and no where near as cheap (American Chopper).

Anyone got any updates or had successful contact yet with looking4dvds?

Just thought I'd bump this to the top again to warn others. I've still not had any joy yet (ordered 27/3)

My debit card co (Abbey) says I have to contact VISA direct. If anyone else has to do the same their no is: 0845 601 7238 (open M-F 8am-6pm).

They have until later today to respond to my Paypal claim against them. If they don't, which looks almost certain now, the case will be decided in my favour. I just hope there's some money in their Paypal account so that I can get back my cash.

Same here with regard to visa. So still no money back and still no DVD. The guy I spoke to at my visa company fraud dept was quite sympathetic to 'looking4dvds' and when I discussed the fact about no reply to emails, phone or letters, the guy at visa didn't seem to bat an eyelid (maybe he was related to someone at this prestigious company) But he did say he would make a note on my file and too phone back when the 30 days is up.

I wonder if people still commit fraudulent acts with credit card scams? The credit card companies are always banging on about it, so maybe it would be a wise idea to send a fraud team around to this guy’s house, you know, to try and catch him why he is actually processing credit cards and see whether he has any intention of fulfilling orders. Perhaps invoices from DVD distributors would be a start.

    Bah...

So there we go ladies and gents -- this site is officially a con. Must have drained the Paypal account as soon as they realised things were going pear-shaped.

Sorry you got caught by them too, Aretak

So in hindsight paying by credit card is safer than by Paypal as VISA told me that I get a full refund from them regardless of wheather the company is still trading. :smashin: (I just have to wait 30 days before I can make a claim:mad: )

Remember though, the consumer credit act which entitles you to a refund does not extend to debit cards, such as Switch.

It also worth finding out the name of the scammer and then taking them to the small claims court in your area (not theirs). I did this with Overclockers and a £200 rip-off ended up costing them thousands - and if the owner of the company had not paid up within 14 days there would have been a CCJ against him personally, which would not have been good for his credit record.

I notice their website is still up and running. Has everyone who has lost out thought of reporting them to Trading Standards in Stockport in order to get them closed down. On all of the linked threads I can see only one person who has done that.
Secondly I can see only one person who has reported the matter to the Police and he sent the complaint to the Met (?) who won't be interested at all as it will be The Greater Manchester Police (J Division: tel 0161 872 5050) who would deal with this. Certainly worth reporting it to them along with grounds suggesting this was a dishonest scam and not just a company going belly up.

Lets see what happens in the next few days then.

If they were really still in business they should try answering the phone and replying to emails. Perhaps putting all new orders on hold i.e. stop taking peoples money.

One Bull **** statement to appease the masses is not good enough!

Spoke to visa this morning and they are going to try and get my money back. But because I told them I cancelled this order two weeks ago they said technically they (looking4 a dodgy company) have got another 30 days to comply, so be warned.

And if you wish to start up a dodgy company and rake in large sums un-molested then there are plenty of organisations to help you. Pay pal, visa and your local trading standards. They all seem to promise some degree of consumer protection. And **** loads for the retailer

I phoned Stockport trading standards the other day and as soon as he found out I lived outside the Stockport area the conversation ended and he wouldn’t write down, log or discuss anything to do with this company.

    Great Hey!

Well VISA have credited me back my money and I have received a letter today from my bank (Abbey) confirming this. So if you paid this way you WILL be refunded

I was just hoping there was a happy ending from lookingfordvds.co.uk as they were the cheapest for what I wanted by far.

    Interesting...

Not sure why I should wait until May 10th for a refund, but as long as I get it I'll be happy.
