I would recommend getting a high quality stereo integrated amp.

The picture shows how to connect a stereo integrated amp (with a direct input) into a AV setup.

AV amps are pretty awful for stereo IMO, no point spending £1500 on a AV amp hoping it'll be great for music (it won't)

Integrated amps that have the direct poweramp input are Audiolab 8000S, Tag Mclaren 60IRV, the higher up Arcams, som NAD's.

I would borrow a couple of different makes of amps, depending on what sound your like. For example, Arcam are a bit laid back (lacking detail) wheras Tag are more detailed (but you might not like that, or the speakers/source are harsh, so it'll bring out the harshness from them)

And probably more if you look!:D

You could try my set-up and Bi-Amp your 5300 with Two MA6100 monoblocks, I find this to be excellent in stereo a definite improvement in Bass with more extension and tightness, midrange detail and sound staging are also improved.

It is not just my opinion a friend listened to the system the other day and said it sounds as good in stereo as his Arcam Alpha 8R/8P combo.

The MA6100's are at unbeatable for £173 ea in black or £180 ea in gold but it is a bit of a leap of faith as no one will have any in to demo.

One of the weak links in a AV amp is the pre-amp section.. so doing what you've done is upgrading the power amp section but not the pre-amp section.

The pre-amp section in the Arcam 8 isn't exactly great either, IMO. Probably why the two systems are similar in performance.

I fixed this problem with an Arcam A85, big improvement and have just ordered the P85 so I can bi-amp for front L&R as well.

Thanx for the advice guys! I've got to confese(cant spell)
That i bought a pioneer 2011, wich is a little better in stereo but bloody fantasic in surround sound WOW!!

wasnt what i intended but i was mightely impressed when i was demo'd it.
