I am a little confused. What will give the best results when connecting video sources to my Z3 projector?

HDMI in theory as there is less conversion between disc and screen.

In reality it depends on the source device.

    Tested them all.

HDMI, then VGA, then COMPONENT (which is unusually poor on the z3), then S & composite are not worth bothering with.

I'm with ROne. Although the difference between HDMI and VGA from a PC is very very little. I found component from a prog scan DVD player to be a major disappointment. I had come from a Sony HS10 using DVI from a PC and when I first fired up my Z3 using component (almost a year ago now) my first thought was "s**t, I've just thrown away two grand (in € that is)

I agree HDMI is vastly superior to component.

Can a DVI output from my PC be used with HDMI?

ROne have you had a look at RGB over VGA from a non PC source device? If so where would you rate it in this little list?

I'm using a progressive scan dvd player via component to the Z3 at the moment and have to say the picture is looking great, [thanks to some nice settings I found on here someplace ;)] infact even when I just connect up my xbox via component it looks great. Might try out a scart to VGA lead if you think it could look better?

VGA is not inherently better or worse than component. VGA is analogue RGB component, whereas 'component' is usually analogue YPbPr (luminance & 2 chrominance signals). You may find that one gives a better picture than the other, but that is down to the colour processing on your projector and video source (PC or DVD).

I believe that the RGB signal from a scart is not compatible with VGA, though some dvd/projector combinations may work. If I were you, I wouldn't bother trying, unless you enjoy experimenting with these things.

IIRC there is a scart to VGA lead for the Z3
