    Hi there everyone.

I got myself an XBox a few months ago and have been buying what I believe to be the cream of the crop games for it.

I would like to know if anyone has any suggestions for other games that I should not miss out on (bearing in mind I'm not a fan of sports games - especially football!).

    So far I have:

    - Colin McRae Rally 2005
    - Doom III: Limited Edition
    - Forza Motorsport
    - Halo: Combat Evolved
    - Halo 2
    - James Bond 007:Everything Or Nothing
    - Ninja Gaiden
    - Outrun 2
    - Panzer Dragoon Orta
    - Pariah
    - Project Gotham Racing 2
    - Rallisport Challenge 2
    - Simpsons: Hit & Run
    - Soul Calibur 2
    - Spider-Man 2
    - Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory
    - TimeSplitters 2
    - TimeSplitters: Future Perfect
    - Unreal Championship
    - Unreal Championship 2: The Liandri Conflict

As you can see I am mainly into FPS and racing games. I would like some suggestions within those categories, but won't rule out anything else...

    So any suggestions?

For FPS games, I also like

Return to Castle Wolfenstein & Medal of Honour: frontline, Men of Valor.

Expand on this with some Squad action and Ghost Recon:Island Thunder, Brothers in Arms, Rainbow Six are also class...

chronicles of riddick : escape from butcher bay ( yes game from a movie so to speak but one of the best FPS's ever to grace a console or PC. its a game set before the movies and gives you a nice back story if you like the Chronicles of riddick films. )

both games rated 9.5+/10 on near enough all gaming websites

Is Return To Castle Wolfenstein the same as the PC version? Or does it feature a different single player story mode? I already have the game for my PC...

I've also got the PC version of Brothers In Arms, but haven't played it much yet...

Meal Of Honour doesn't really suit my tastes to be honest. I'm more of a Call Of Duty fan. I have that and the expansion pack for the PC so I haven't bothered with Finest Hour for the XBox yet. Besides, I've heard its not very good.

I have been seriously considering Burnout 3 and did actually bid on it on E-Bay but I just missed out on it. I'll probably try again when a new & sealed copy is up for auction.

I had a quick go at the demo of Chronicles Of Riddick but didn't really get into it. Perhaps I'll try it again when I've got more time...

Yeah I like the look of the Dead Or Alive games. I played the original on my Sega Saturn years ago...

Which is the best game to get? Dead Or Alive 3 or Dead Or Alive Ultimate? What's the differnce?

As for Panzer Dragoon Orta, that was a great bargain. I had been looking for it online for some time (big fan since the days of the 3 games on the Saturn) and the cheapest place I could find it was at CD-Wow for £24.99, which seemed expensive for a 4 year old game.

So anyway, I went shopping with my girlfriend a few weeks ago and popped into GameStation just to see what they had in, and I spotted 3 copies of the game for £7.99 each! Needless to say, I snatched it up!

What is that game all about then? I can't say I've heard much about it. What type of game is it? It sounds like an RPG from the title...

Metal Arms: a glitch in the system

    TOCA 2

    Republic Commando

    Knights of the old Republic

    Rocky

All the above are great games IMHO and should be in the 'bargain basement' section in gamestation by now!

    enjoy.

Crimson Skies = aerial combat, flying wierd and wonderful planes around the skies in dogfight type fashion.

Haven't got it myself, but have read a while back the LIVE part is quite good.

    Cheers

Some games that have not been mentioned yet which I consider to be top stuff!

    Project Snowblind
Mercenaries (how people have missed this out I don't know!)
    Second Sight
    Mech Assault 2 Lone Wolf
    Otogi 2 Immortal Warriors
Outlaw Golf 2 (you say you don't like sports games but believe me you'll like this one :D )
    The Suffering
    Full Spectrum Warrior
    Secret Weapons over Normandy
    KOTOR II
Star Wars Lego (I know it's sad but I can't help playing it!)
    Area 51
    MOH European Assault
    Splinter Cell Chaos Theory

All these will keep you playing until the end and give you endless fun in the process!

Loads of the games mentioned, I didn't really enjoy, I'm far too fussy. Pretty much all those I did enjoy are on the list. Manhunt? Deus EX Invisible War? Played them on the PC I bet? Just get Live. Then you only need 1 game.

Another vote for KotOR. I’m getting through this at the mo and it is one of the best Star Wars themed games I’ve played. Highly recommended!

Crimson Skies, as mentioned, is aerial based combat in propellor driven planes with a twist...the Live aspect is great too but the game itself is unique, there's nothing really similar to it on xbox. It's very playable and you should pick it up off ebay very cheaply...

...I agree that Metal Arms is a great game too!

    Er... I hate football! :)

Is Ghost Recon 2 more of a tactical game? I haven't played any of the Ghost Recon games on PC or XBox.

Is Knights Of The Old Republic an RPG game? I quite fancy playing an RPG - the last ones I played were Panzer Dragoon Saga and Shenmue. Which one is better? The original or the sequel? Would it be worth waiting for the sequel to come down in price, or just grab the original cheap now?

I tried the Republic Commando demo on OXM but I didn't like it at all. It just wasn't the right pace for me...

Well, I haven't got LIVE so I won't be playing online (for the time being anyway). Flying games aren't really my thing, but I may well check this one out...

I've looked at buying Project: Snowblind a few times, but I tried the PC demo and it was terrible! The controls were way too sensitive, no matter what I did in the options. Is it the same on XBox?

Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory is the best game I have on my XBox. I absolutely love it. On GameSpot I keep a record of all my games and Chaos Theory along with Unreal Championship 2 got 95% from me.

Let me guess... Halo 2? I've never played that multiplayer in my life. Am I missing out? I think when I get LIVE I'll probably get the new map pack & play it online, but until then I have nobody to play with...

    Thanks for your suggestions everyone!

Another vote for KOTOR, yes it is an RPG. I also think the first is probably better and quite cheap now. Also oddworld: strangers wrath is a great fps and only £9.99 at game in their deal of the week

    cheers, count

Apparently the original game got better reviews than the sequel. But I'm not sure that's just because the sequel was just a re-hash?

Fight Night Round 2, fantastic game if you like that kind of thing

Flatout, I know it requires as much luck as skill, but it's great fun anyway, and not too many Live pro's which is great for me ;)

Oddworld: Stangers Wrath, as someone kindly posted in special offers, it's going cheap in Game right now :)

    Look mate,

    I hate football too.

You aren't playing real football though, its a game...just close your eyes and imagine you are in a sideways top down view of Halo 2 and playing the version with the skull ball.

Instead of an old factory, you are in a (slightly) disused football stadium.

You have to cleverly evade the other team, with the advantage of being able to see them from above. Also you have a "base" at each end with someone in a permanently defensive role protecting it.

Although Pro Evo 4 is based on a sport to sucker in all the "fans" its really just another version of Halo you see.

Top Spin is like a one on one sniper, but with a bouncy yellow bullet.

I'm trying to think of something for links, but we'll have to make do with the golf ball being bullets and the flag being the enemy.

You see its that easy. Go on use your imagination...

Hey you also included Forza MotorSPORT.

Hey and i just checked again and you added RalliSPORT Challenge, you muddyfunster.

One thing I do agree with you on though is

I'm not too keen on the Meal of Honour either... :smoke:

When I first played KOTOR 1 I almost gave up on it as it seemed to take ages for it to get going. Now I consider It to be one the best games ever.

Get KOTOR 1 if you haven't played either 1 or 2 yet. The graphics do not seem as good on 2 and the frame rate is poor in some parts, still a great game though.

I got 50 hours worth of play out of both of them and could have got more if i'd done the side missions.

Knights of the Old Republic 1 and 2
Red Dead Revolver (Got this for about 6quid new in Currys!)
Any of the GTA games, though Vice City is my personal favourite as it's just fun. The other two are great, but kinda drab looking.
    Fight Night Round 2
    Burnout 3

All I can think of at the moment. I've just gotten into playing SC:CT myself (I assume you've played the other two, if not get those too), and that blatant Airwaves placement annoyed me quite a bit.
