Hi,

I have a 4k Sony TV and i usually use plex from my laptop to stream media to my TV.

However the laptop isnt powerful enough to stream the 17gig file of Breaking Bad S01E01.

I have looked at Nvidea Shield, but it is a little pricey for my budget at the minute and limited 4k contect it wont get useed much, can you reccomend any alternatives?

Cheers

Cheers Jerry, something like that looks perfect.

How do i play media that i have aquired through that though?

If you have a server or nas you can install kodi and can play through that.
Or invest in a network attached HDD.You can also use the USB but they are restricted to 4gb files.

Yeh i can install plex on the Fire TV, and stream from my laptop but im worried i will get the message through plex that the server isnt strong enough.
Is the "server" my laptop or the amazon fire tv?

Cheers, so the amazon fire TV will not be good enough for what i need.

I feel i am going to have to bite the bullet and get a 500gb Nvidea Shield unless there is a cheaper alternative?
