I am wanting to convert some old vhs tapes onto dvd-r. I think I have two ways of doing this.
1/ connect vhs player to tosh xs32
    or
2/ connect vhs player to canon 730i camcorder to convert into digital and then from camcorder to tosh via firewire

Does anyone know which will produce the best quality recordings ?

    Many thanks

Just connect direct from vcr to xs32... I have the same recorder and it works great. No point using the camcorder as your source is not digital anyway so its just an added pain.
