Best way to connect Sony Bravia to multiple audio devices

Just got a new Sony Google Bravia TV. I'm sure I'll love it once I figure it out!

I have a soundbar for everyday tv watching

And a new Yamaha audio receiver with surround sound. HDMI ARC, Bluetooth etc.

I want the ability to watch tv with the soundbar (most of the time) but to be able to switch on the receiver, mute the sound bar and have big surround sound.

How can I wire this?

I am currently connected to the soundbar via HDMI ARC which works great. I connected to the amp by Bluetooth but the volume is half of normal.

What am I doing wrong?

Which would you connect by optical? The soundbar or the receiver? Will either be limited or will both have full surround and Dolby sent?

If you have a receiver and the surround speakers and you want the full cinematic effect it would make sense to connect that to your TV via HDMI Arc and just use optical from the TV to the Soundbar which will still give you Dolby D.
