    Hello All

I am looking to connect a PC to my Pioneer 505XDE, and it will primarily be for playing HD content.

The PC has a Athlon 64 dual processor (4200+) and an Nvidia 7800 GT graphics card (DVI output).

As I will require a 10m cable, what would be the best option for connecting to the plasma, the VGA input OR the HDMI input?

    Thanks

    Doc

HDMI is superior to VGA, it also carries sound.

I understand that HDMI is superior but I have heard the VGA port is a better input for PCs with Pioneer plasmas. Also graphic cards do not output sound through there DVI output, so the HDMI option will not provide sound.

So it is a question of what would be best for picture quality and stable output from the PC, considering thelength of the cable and pixel-mapping.

    Thanks

    Hi Doc,

If you can connect HDMI into your media box on the 505 then go for that as the VGA port is unfortunately on the front of the Media Box & therefore you have to have the front flap down!!

Apart from that VGA is good enough to power the panel with excellent resolution.

Unfortunately I use HDMI for my DVD player & there is only one on the back so I have to opt for VGA with the flap down when I connect the laptop! :thumbsdow

    Thanks Cwhelan

I don't mind using the VGA port on the front as it will only be for occasional use. Do you use a DVI to VGA cable or a DVI to DVI cable with a VGA adapter? (This is assuming you have a DVI output on your graphics card).

    Thanks
