    Hello,

I am about to buy a length of QED Silver Anniversary.

Is there a huge amount of benefit to be gained from using interconnect plugs to connect the speakers/amp to the cables, or can one get the same sound quality from simply attaching the cables directly without anything else?

This has been covered a few times before and it would seem that the concensus of opinion is that there is little if any benefit to the sound but those that buy them do so as a matter of convenience.

In terms of sound quality, there is likely to be no difference. Banana plug are a matter of convenience.

    Cheers

The only banana plugs worth considering are the QED Airloc plugs that are crimped directly onto the bare cable ends. These give a very good connection, and prevent oxidisation of the cable.

They are not cheap, around £5 a plug, but well worth it long term.
They are also available in BFA form for current Linn and older Arcam amps, or spades.
