I've got the region 2 2-disc version of T1 which is superb with a lot of extras, including deleted scenes. Also have the R1 tin version of T2.

I agree, T2 surpassed the original in terms of action and effects and is still in my opinion the best action film ever made. But I think T1 was a better film, for it's originality and brilliant suspense. It holds it's own even when watched almost 20 years after it was first released.

T3 trailer looks good but I'm still sceptical as Jim Cameron is not at the helm. He is a genius and breaks new ground in some way in every film he does.

I got the R4 Australian one because it came out first. It's got the remastered picture and re-mixed soundtrack which is excellent. It's also packaged better than the R2 IMO.

The main thing that sets the R1 version out from the R2 & 4 is the fact that the introductory text (The machines rose from the ashes...") is subtitle-generated, one line at a time on the R2/4 versions, but the full text is burnt into the film (as it should be) on R1. I guess the R2/4 does this so that these titles can be multilingual.

Don't forgot that the R1 contains the original mono track, which is better than the newly remixed one in many fans opinions.

Have the R4 meself, as it was out a few weeks before the R2, and a few months before the R1. Plus it has a decent boc, rather than the naff cardboard thing, as the R2 has.

The re-mastered sound track is defintely better than the original mono mix.
