what is the best value sacd player to buy please?
I bought a Philips DVD963A for about £220 a couple of months back. This is a multi-region progressive scan DVD player, a CD player with upsampling to 192KHz/24 bit, and a SACD player. I had a Marantz CD6000 OSE CD player before, and I think the Philips sounds better playing CDs, which I at last find enjoyable, and I'm very happy with the DVD and SACD quality. They might be hard to find now.
or buy a Pioneer DV575 for £100-150 and you get DVD-A playback too...DVD-As are imo better sounding than SACD, which is being replaced by SACD II soon anyway....
£220 is not value lol
go for the pioneer, look on threads for how to make it multi region
I'll second the recommendations of the Philips 963SA and Pioneer 656/565/575.
All very capable machines, despite their low price. If you want to spend a little more however, I'd recommend the Denon 2200/2900 for £300/£400, respectively.
What about the Sony DVP-NS955v DVD/SACD?
It's got rave reviews all over the net and is build exceptionally well at the price point. It's 220 pound I think.
Oh really? Reference? Or are you just refering to the SACD 2.0 spec?
On the subject of cheap multiplayers, Richer Sounds have the Pioneer DV575 for £100: http://ws4.richersounds.com/showproduct.php?cda=showproduct&pid=PION-DV575-SIL
