I'm about to buy the AE700 (despite the persistent VB complaints and the whole 'Panny give me firmware 1.07 now!' issue) and would like the simplest piece of advise from your good selves:

    Where has it cheapest?

I was about to get it tonight and then I saw Krish mentioned here, who have it for a good £100 than I was going to pay, despite me spending hours searching.

Any input regarding the performance of the AE700 in HD mode with an NTSC XB w/Halo 2 would be nice, since that it will be spending most of its time doing.

I'm off to play H2 for a bit (this time is only chance I get these days) so don't be offended if I don't reply for the next few hours.

    Great forum BTW.

I use it largely for playing Halo 2 and it is simply uncomparable with tv. the picture is pin sharp, you can see people a mile away and it is completely immersive. Recommend more than words can say ;)

I bought mine from komplett.co.uk and although it took them a while to get hold of the projectors, they now have some and would ship fast I imagine. I have had a few orders with them and no problems what-so-ever. They are going for £1150 I think at the moment.

That's what I was looking for. I'm currently using a 28" TV and don't feel I'm using the old XB to its fullest potential. If it makes waterworks easier to see (I genuinely can't see a blue person in the shadows on that level - I have to increase my brightness by about 25%), then I'll be really, really happy.

£1150-ish seems to be the lower limit right now so now all I have to decide is white wall versus temporary cheap screen.

If it magically fixes transatlantic lag over Live too, it'll do everything I ever wanted.

Pixmania are selling the ae 700 for £1135.90 with a 2 year warranty.
Keep any eye on this site www.pricerunner.co.uk it's the best comparison site I have found and the price is dropping daily. Will purchase my 700 shortly. :D

The standard warranty you refer to is the only warranty offered with UK machines.

True, 20mins to half an hour depending on traffic.

It's just when you mentioned it being near the TC I thought "have they opened another branch?!".

Ordered from Krish for £1145 inc P&P, so I've just wasted a tenner. I was going to get a spare bulb with it for £99, which seems a pretty good deal.

The worst part of ordering online is not knowing where your goods (which you've already paid for if they charge your card instantly) actually are. I checked with Krish and my pj should arrive tomorrow, which is very convenient for me seeing as I'll actually be in.

I could have saved a couple of quid getting it from Sound & Vision nr. Manchester, but actually getting there would have pushed up the cost and taken me a while. Other side of the Pennines - NorthernNerd = Leeds fan.

I am now addicted to this forum and will use it to help me get set up after the pj has arrived.

Wow. Projectors are pretty damn good.

It arrived earlier today, I have some work to do and then I can spend as long as I need setting it up properly.

I've only tested games on it so far but F-Zero GX and Halo 2 (both NTSC versions) look better than I thought they would in 480p. Does Amped 2 support 1080i or something? It knocked me for six.

Cheers, didn't realise the ( 1.07 firmware as standard) had come thru the channels yet.

As you are (as per normal) dead pixelling them for (most?) customers, dare I ask if you feel the vertical banding has been reduced now?

    Cheers :smashin:

    Hi Tempest,

Sorry for not replying, it's quite hectic around here!

TBH VB is not apparant on any 700 when it's new really! Its the 30hr stage that really matters. Although on a quick examination there is noticably less of the very minimal VB on the new units. Hunts1uk seems to have a better idea as he has a few hours on his and it seems to clear things up.

And free pixel checks on ALL units

    Thanks
