Looking for a TV for console gaming (PS4) and some light movie/tv watching.

Have been looking around for a while and from what I've seen the W829 (42" or 50") looks the best choice.

Are there any newer models that come close performance-wise?
I was considering the KS7000 for the upgrades in resolution and HDR compatibility, but the price jump is quite steep.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

You can't really go any lower than the KS7000 if you want decent HDR capability.

That seems to be what most reviews say online, just wondering whether the price hike is worth it - or whether it would be best to upgrade to a 4K set later down the line, and opt for a 1080p set now.

Given that most TVs are released between now and summer and many look promising from CES it's probably worth waiting until then. But prices are always higher when TVs are released so. In particular I like the sound of these Sony TV's they will release that are 1080p but with HDR.

Ahhh okay, I'll keep that in mind.

That link takes me to the Sony homepage, would you be able to provide the model number of the TV you're referring to?

    Thanks for your help.

I didn't supply a link. Just mentioned that Sony are planning to release FHD models with HDR support. I believe the numbers will be similar to the 2016 models except the D will be replaced by E. eg this year's WD75 will be WE75 next year.

Ahhh okay, I wasn't aware that mentioning a brand provided a link.

    Thanks.
