on gamecube and ps2, sound wise what are the best surround sound games.
Vice City: I may not like it, but it has fantastic sound - DTS 4.0.
There's a few Pro Logic 2 games around that have brilliant sound - Burnout 2 sticks out
Most PL2 games - Mario, Zelda, Eternal Darkness, Metroid all have incredible sound quality
There's tonnes of choice though
there ALL on the XBOX once you had 5.1 in a game all the others seem very very lame
On Gamecube, Star Wars - Rogue Leader and Wave Race: Blue Storm are stand-out titles (in terms of sound!). I second Mario Sunshine, and my friend would recommend Eternal Darkness (I haven't played it yet).
It know that it wasn't asked, but I like really like my Xbox for 5.1. Sega GT, Project Gotham Racing and MotoGP... Mmmmmmm... [/Homer]
I don't have access to one these days (but will!), but I seem to remember GT3 being pretty good. Well the engine noises are anyway Rez has to be recommended too and Metal Gear Solid has an option of 5.1 for the quite frequent animation sequences.
I think Burnout 2 is labelled Dolby Pro-Logic 2 on PS2 and GC formats and the EA Sports and SSX games sound great (with DTS 4.0 on PS2, I think) - except for F1 2002, that is
Oh yeah, Silent Hill 2 on PS2... in a dark room, during the early hours, alone
And yes, I do like racing games
for the cube, Eternal Darkness, Mario, Metroid and Zelda. Even though its PL2 Zelda actually sounds more 5.1 than most 5.1 dvds
Halo has amazing surround sound. It's really immersive - hearing the insults your squad is shouting at the baddies come from behind you is really cool - like something straight out of Aliens.
