I will be buying the YSP-1 soon and obviously need a subwoofer to pair with it - what's the BEST Subwoofer for the System that is Under £1000?

I'll be using the speakers for watching Sky, and content from my PC? Ideas?

I would recommend auditioning the REL Strata 5, Storm 5, the B&W ASW675, ASW750, PV1, all of which are less than £1000.

I would suggest the BK XLS200 at £289 direct from the manufacturer. Whilst it isn't the best subwoofer under £1,000, anything more expensive may be considered overkill for your system.

I need a Subwoofer for a YSP-1 as well, but I'll be using it mostly for DVDs - exclusively in fact really... are there any Subwoofers you'd recommend? DVD Player is Denon 3910 and Plasma is Panansonic 42P500 :)

It depends on how loudly you wish to play your films. The BK XLS200 at £289 will be more than adequate for most people in average sized rooms but for those that want deeper and / or louder bass the BK Monolith or SVS PB-10 at about £400 would be worth shortlisting with the proviso that both come with a considerable size penalty over the XLS200.

I was thinking the same thing about Overkill - I am buying the YSP-1 cause I am too lazy to set up a whole system, and simply needing a good and strong subwoofer to accompany this - I will look at those choices. I am merely using the little subwoofer out bit at the back of the YSP-1 that is why I thought the REL Strata 5 and stuff was overkill as I don't even understand all the controls. I just want it LOUD and so that I can FEEL the base in the rare occasion that I watch DVDs.

I've been loking at Pictures of the XLS200 and the Monolith, how am I supposed to connect that to the YSP-1? I don't think it's possible without the help of an AMP or something.

the YSP-1 will have an RCA connection to plug straight into the sub (using a lead that comes with the BK). Don't worry about it.

As long as it's nice and loud, i.e. so I can feel it then I am a Happy Bunny. Been reading some reviews and it sounds excellent, thanks very much for your help - I am gonna pair the YSP-1 with the Monolith. Thanks Ian.

I wouldn't describe them as pretty good but I do own two XLS200s.

Extremely good for the quality and value that they represent. I havn't read a bad review yet. :)

So if your loving the XLS200s that much, then the Monolith will be even better right?
