best sub setting for movies 120hz on amp or high on sub

    have denon 3802 do i set crossover on amp to 80hz, and crossover to highest setting on sub and adjust sub volume level and amp for movies, or set 3802 to 120hz crossover and adjust sub, seen threads to set crossover at highest level is this on amp or sub or both, cant seem to get a happy medium with dvds movies, to (much grunt) or not enough thank you all

    Set the amp to 80hz and the crossover on the sub to max.

    Depends what front speakers you are using as well though - if they are very small, then setting the amp's crossover too low may not be a good idea - may be better to set it at 100 or 120.
    Make sure your other speakers are set to the correct size setting on the amp as well.

    You may have to play around with the sub level and speaker settings on the amp to get a happy medium
