Hi there,

My 12 year old Onkyo AV Receiver has just stopped working- no sound output.

I have been away from AV for a while and have lost touch on the best deals etc. I am looking for the best sub £500 AV receiver. Needs to be 4k compatible and with a good number of HDMI inputs.

From what I can see there is not a lot on the market....or am I missing out.

What would you recommend? I have a Sony 4K TV with Monitor Audio 5.1 speakers.

Any help will be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Euan

£50 over your budget but you won’t get better for features:

powers 7 speakers and 2 subwoofers,so could do a 5.2.2 setup just need a power amp to use extra atmos speakers........

No, the x1700 will only process 7 channels, so you can't add anymore. Although, it does (as you say) amplify all 7 channels.

You can choose a max. of either 7.x.0 or 5.x.2. The only pre outs it has are for subwoofers.
