    hi all

My Denon A1SR is on order and was wondering what speaker combination would sound best with it
i was thinking Kef Q series like Q5(orQ7) front Q1 surround and the Q9c center
or would you prefer the B&W 600 series' maybe even the 700 series i want to listen to music adn use them for movie watching
i want to test them out before i get them but just wondering what you're opinion would be opinion have to be Kef or B&W could also be a other brand but those 2 i heard and sounded pretty good :)
my budget is about £2100,- and the max would be £3500,-

    Thanks in advanced everyone :D

Well, I listened to the new KEF range and thought them alright. Nothing special. I have also listened to the new Quad range, and they are outstanding, especially if you are going to listen to music (don't get their sub, mind). The Quad cabinets are a touch of class, too. Speaking of speaker cabinets, Castle do some pretty special packages in your price range (Harlech based speaker package), though they are more music than AV. I haven't heard B&W much, so can't comment on those, but lots of people like them. I would suggest that the 700 series would be in-step with the A1SR.

Have a listen to the Quad's though (with a sub of your choice), the centre in particular is a very good speaker.

    Kenda,
The Quads are very good, but bear in mind that they are not magnetically shielded.

i would definitely go for B&W 700 series, i had the 600series and was very happy with them. I believe that the 700 are much better....

Yes, B&W's 700 series makes sense, although it might push the boundaries of your proposed budget.

    704s - £1400
    ASW750 - £1200?
    Matching centre - £700?
    Matching DSM7 surround - £800?

I'm not sure of the exact pricings...

The Monitor Audio Gold range or also in that sort of budget range , if you get them in the UK rather than Holland, even with the ferry trip from the Hook of Holland included.

If you're more into music than movies you may want to consider adding a quality stereo integrated amp to drive the fronts.

    You didn't mention a sub?

    A few possible packages:

    B&W 700 Series
    Front 704 £1400
    Centre HTM7£450
    Rear DS7 £450
    Sub ASW700 £1000

    B&W 600 Series
    Front 603 S3 £600
    Centre LCR600 £350
    Rear DS7 £450
    Sub ASW675 £650

    Monitor Audio Gold Ref
    Front GR20 £1500
    Centre GRC £500
    Rear GRfx £900
    Sub MJ Ref 1 £600

    Dynaudio Audience
    Front 72 £1300
    Centre 122 £500
    Rear 42 £500
    Sub Rel Storm III £800

Dynaudio Contour old range now discontinued but you may pick up a bargain on ex dem stock....
    Front 1.8 £1200 ish
    Centre £500 ish
    Rear 1.1 £500 ish
    Sub Rel Storm III £800

Kef Reference range is great but will push your budget too far I think.

Thanks for all the reactions i appreciate it
i'll be testing the B&W serie 700 for sure now.

    but to 337GUS
    the B&W 704 is only £770
and the dynaudio 72 is only £575
i guess the prices here in holland are some what different then there lol the prices i got are not even from a internet store but from my local AV store.

    more ideas are welcome :)

    "Prijs: Per stuk: € 1099.00"

So I believe it's for one speaker. I suppose the UK price is for a pair?

    Hi

I thought I'd let you know that I'm selling a pair of B&W N805 speakers and a matching HTM2 all in black ash and all in excellent condition with boxes and manuals. They are about 2.5 years old.

These are fantastic for both music and AV and create a cohesive front soundstage.

I'm asking £800 for the N805's and £500 for the HTM2, if anyone is interested.

If you try the KEF's make sure you try the Q7's as well as the Q5's much better control.

...Agreed - I have Q7 fronts (class apart from the 5's) and Q9c, Q1's on the 4 surrounds - I demoed a lot of subs and finally settled on the MJ pro 100 as a good tonal match - this config just keeps blowing me away (Marantz amplification) :)
