Don't know about MS but I would avoid B&W 6**... too forward/bright with Denon... so as a lesser degree Monitor Audio...

I'm trying to get a "full" sounding speaker, from deep bass to highs. Everytime I listen to a floorstander there something that I can't hear or a standmount.
Secondly for aesthetics I prefer floorstanders.

I know that you are a standmounts defender all the way, could you elaborate on your opinion?

Thirdly I don't want to invest right away in a first quality sub. That's why I also prefer the floorstanders. I know that if I'de make my math right I probably would come up with the same sum, but then there's the aesthetic question...

I allways loved floorstanders, but at real world prices their construction is far from very good.
If you add that you're going to buy a sub anyway, and you can tune it it to your speakers and room... that's why! Better attack, control, and less ressonanaces in the room...
And the much better control of bookshelf ones.
Also hated subs too, until I heard proper tuned REL and MJ subs...

And remember thzt lower bass from floorstanders can make nasty inferference (ressonance) with upper bass from the sub..

i can certainly reccommend the AE EVO's for that. had a major sesh today and they sound extremely full.

in fact i had a music session (sub off) then watched star wars and genuinely forgot the sub was off, obviously i noticed eventually, but they certainly held their own in the bass department.

Say it ain't so! I have a B&W surround speaker setup 6**s and am looking at the Denons for my surround amp. Great value for money.

Is this just your opinion or a general concencus on these boards??

It depends on your taste, but go listen for yourself... :)
I would think about a NAD or Marantz IMHO...

i personally love the bright balance that the pairing of b&w and denon gives. unfortunatley, my amp is in the shop at the mo, getting fixed.

    bump more more......

gettin my 2106 at weekend and wanna know what floorstanders to get! Thinkin about mission B4s? or what about Wharfedale 8.3 or 9.4`s ?? or AE Evo 3 but there a lot over my budget!

Preferably want something less than £250!! And floorstanders cuz, well i`m not beating about the bush, i think they will look good for the fronts either side of my wall mounted lcd !!!! Basically, on a budget so my 2106 will be just driving these two fronts until i can save up and add the extra wall rears, centre and base !
Thanks for all ur help, i`m getting there, just slowly!

    Chris

Go for the AE Evo or KEF Q series (great discounts now).

Wharfedale 9 are low efficiency, and forget other mettallic tweeters I guess...

Demoed it today with a set of KEF KHT 2005.2, and with a set of B&W MT20

    Results were stunning with both.

Movie was Private Ryan DTS (tank scene), Music was Eagles Live (Hotel California) DTS

Very impressive all round. Will probably go for the B&W, however still deciding - a difficult choice !!!!

    Regards,

    jonandjen.

WAHOOOO!!!!!! just gone and picked up my denon 2106 and i was WELL IMPRESSED with the demo! But now :( lol i have no cd player or speakers so cant use it ! lol, ahh well another week to decide exactly what speakers.......so i`m still onto the same question!
    Which speakers:
As Falp and Ched both said, i demoed it with JUST the AE Evo 3, and it was v good in stereo for the music, was well impressed! Basically before i totally commit, i just want to know what else you would compair, before i was talkin about floor standers but now i kinda like the speaker stands so i`m happy to take that route!

I think i`m almost decided upon the Evo3`s BUT i would prefer some more advice and suggestions before i commit to buy!

If you have £950, the Kef 5005 sub/sat system is a great match for the amp.

Very capable with cinema and music, very discreet and they look superb

falp, you mention the AE EVO1 which are bookshelfs! Now i have no problem using bookshelfs, but for £150 do they even compair with the Evo3 floorstanders? ???

Also how much are stands if you go for the bookshelf route?
