    Hi all,

I've just received my HD5 and want to get the MC40ELK remote. I can see several on eBay but the 'reasonably' priced ones are from a seller in China without much feedback (and only accepts payment via Bidpay or Western Union, which I don't trust!)

Does anyone know a reputable source of these that is either UK-based or will ship to UK and isn't asking a fortune?? ;)

    Thanks,

    Tom

Thanks everyone - TCR is a good call... I didn't think they'd have them and couldn't be bothered to wander up/down the entire street on the off chance.

It's actually the HD5HS (so silver of course). Very pleased so far and no visible issues. Hate Sonicstage but then I'm familiar with that evil as has the MS70D before. v3.1 is a big improvement and here's hoping it gets better.

Now if I can just find a silicone case that I like - not sure about the Proporta ones... don't want white and pink is out of the question! :thumbsdow

Think I might make a trip to TCR. :D

Tom, If you can hang on a bit, I'm waiting for one from this guy in China that you mentioned, so I can report back to you first hand.

Grrrr... went all the way to TCR only to find that Hifi Surplus isn't open on Sunday! And every other shop on the road looked confused at the idea of a remote!

Oh well... will watch ebay and if no great offers try again on Saturday. Njiri let me know how it goes.

    Cheers,

    Tom

got mine with an NH1 minidisc - so now use it with both nh1 and my hd5!! - just a thought ( cos hi-md's seem to be coming up quite cheapish - might be worth it to someone who's also chasing a remote for hd5)

PS my hd5 is a black one - no sign of button cracks - now 10 days goodish use and counting!!

Thanks... did you bid on this? I'm very tempted but it's been a while since my GSCE german - have you had any contact with the seller (e.g. postage costs etc).

Yeah, I used 'Buy it now' and paid Paypal, leaving him instructions to let me know if he wanted extra for shipping to UK. My experience with most European sellers is that their english is good enough to transact (and I don't know a word of German!) I've not heard anything as yet. :-/

If you could keep me updated as to how it goes the next day or so (either here or PM), that would be great. Would probably get one if all is well (which I'm sure it will be).

    2. How do you rate the remote?

    Hi,

Just to confirm I just received a message from IHV-Siegen confirming they'd received the money and shipped (and it was in very clear English). :D So their standard shipping of 5 euros covered it.

Will see how quickly it arrives, but so far I'd recommend them.

    Cheers,

    Tom

I just called hifi surplus. They have the item in stock but are charging £70. Same cost as the sony shop. Looks like i'm going to have to take the risk and import one.

    For reasons I do not understand, I bought mine in U.S. dollars. 2 units + $15 postage = $125 or about £70.

They have rather broken english (but better than my German) I was begining to panic that the second remote may have gone missing, but today a card from the PO saying there is a packet to collect, which must be it.

The first one turned up in 4 working days, stuffed in a padded envelope. works really well, actually easier to use than the menu buttons on the HD5 (mine is black, no cracks, but I am frightened to touch them now!)

Ordered from IHV-Siegen on Monday evening (late) via eBay, and I've still not recieved any response despite a couple of chasing emails through eBay (the email address given in the Paypal receipt doesn't work) - has anyone else ordered recently and got / not got a response from them?

    Thanks

    Si.

    Thanks... I'll wait and see.

The email address given in the paypal receipt I got was ihv-siegen@gmx.de, which bounced - but the email address used by eBay is the one you gave.

    Fingers crossed! :)

The response I got came from the address in bydandie's post above.
