Basically, I've gotten rid of my old wired Panasonic SC-BT200 5.1 surround system due to having a 1-year-old who now touches everything at his height and by god he loves playing with wires!

Moving house in 2 weeks so will have a bigger living room, that might affect my TV situation as currently, I don't sit that far away from my 40" Panasonic TX-40AX630B, but I think I will end up sat further away in the new house so might have to replace it for something bigger.

    Anyway, my main uses are:
    • Xbox One
    • SKY+ HD
    • Netflix/Amazon etc
    • Chromecasting stuff like YouTube
    • Music from Spotify or mp3s bluetoothed from my phone
2 big things important to me will be a dialogue enhancement mode for movies and a night or quiet mode so I can still use it when my son is asleep.

I'd love to just go out and buy a wireless surround like the Samsung HW-N950 as I like the idea of Dolby Atmos but I don't think I can bring myself to spend £1,500 and then possibly have the conundrum of forking out for a bigger TV as well.

    Any suggestions?

Are the wireless speakers wireless though?

I imagine that the OP is looking for a totally wireless solution. Apologies if that's not the case.

When speaking about "wireless" in regards to home cinema all items generally require mains power, although there are a few exceptions that use battery power & recharge when docked with the main unit (philips etc make these)
So in a sense they are not true wireless.
However in the case of wireless rear speakers you can avoid putting wires from the front to back of room. With a wireless sub again this can be placed anywhere, as long as you can plug it in.....

Yeah - I couldn't find anywhere to edit the post title in edit mode - doh!

Thanks for the replies so far, I just dunno if DTX, Atmos etc are actually worth investing in yet.

I could just buy something without wireless rears like any of these:
    • Sonos Beam or Playbase/bar
    • Samsung HW-MS650, MS750, N850
    • Bose Soundtouch 300
    • Yamaha YSP-2700
    • LG SK9Y
There's a baffling array of choice out there and I don't really know what's good the price etc.

Can't go wrong with a Sonos Beam and two Sonos OneS. My local Costco has a great deal on a pair of Ones.

The new Vizio Atmos 5.1 setup is getting decent reviews for $500 as well.

Sonos doesn't do anything like Atmos or DTX though right?
