I'm looking to get the freesat thing; I've got a dish and all that sort of shenanigans but no box.

I want a box that's fast, great picture and importantly good sound as this will go through a AV amp.

    Any advie greatly appreciated.

    Cheers all

If it's just normal Sky, then I think the Panasonic boxes are amongst the most highly regarded. They can be found quite cheap on Ebay.

Greg's bang on. The Panasonic TU-DSB30/31/40/50 are good but suffer from intermittent faults where the box will revert to standby. When they do - it's terminal. I suspect many sold on ebay and the like will be duff. Be careful. :smashin:

The Pace DS-430N is a current model and has been reliable so far.

If you can find a Pace BSkyB2500 or 2600 they're OK but here's a tip - the tuners fail on these - not too expensive to repair - find one with the tuner input socket that's not fully threaded; ie. it's 'flat' on opposite sides. Means it's had a modified tuner. ;)

Oh and by the way, congratulations on the use of the word 'shenanigans'! :D Love it! :D
