Best Set for my budget

Hi All

First post on here and I’m sure you have been asked these questions countless times but I need someone to take the decision making away from me as the wife is going to kill me. The wife has agreed to buy a LCD / Plasma with the top end budget of £1000 and all I have to do is pick.

The sets I’ve narrowed it down to are:

Sony KDL-40W2000U LCD at £999
Samsung LE40M87BDX LCD at £899
Panasonic TH-42PX70 Plasma at £799
Phillips 42PFP5532D Plasma at £799

If anyone has any better suggestions then please let me know.

All the sets are from Tec 7 (House of Fraser) and will have a 5 year warranty. The TV is going to be wall mounted by an install company and the viewing position is approx 8ft from sofa to wall. Currently we are watching SD on Sky + but may look at upgrading to Sky HD and getting a blue ray player in the next few weeks. The TV will occasionally (when allowed) have my X-Box 360 plugged in. I’m concerned that the 42’s will be to big but the I don’t want to sit here in a month time thinking the 40 is to small, I’m also getting hung up on 1080p etc, etc but I want the best that I can get for my budget.

Any advice greatly appreciated as I need to get the set before the sales close.

Well, with such a budget my reccomendation is the Sony KDL-40V3000 model which is better than 40W2000.Also although it must be out of stock you wont miss anything by phoning JL or go instore to see if there is any 40V3000+PS3 for 1k which was a cracking deal.If its out of stock really, the tv can be had for £1100+BDP-S300 blu ray player from ED which can be also price matched from JL
