What you think is the best Recorder for DVD playback?

I am after a deck that will that will match a mid-range player for PQ over RGB & DVD SQ, I know the Panasonic DMR-E100 was rated well for this a year ago, but the av world moves fast.

Recording function will mainly be arc'ing stuff I want to keep from my humax pvr and a few old vid's

or should I buy a mid-range deck and cheap recorder?

Thanking you in advance for you input

Most DVD players will give good performance at DVD Video playback these days. The general rule (in my experience) is you can halve the cost of a DVD Recorder and that is the price range of DVD players it can compete with. The exceptions to this is the Toshiba RDXS32 which offers very good playback even when compared to some £300 units - and the Sony models tend to be quite good as well.

Depending on your budget it may be worth checking the £1000 Pioneer 920 or Panasonic E500 - I've had no hands on either yet but ensuring high quality DVD playback has been a major feature in their design so well worth checking out.

    Thanks for the info Rasczak

£1,000 is double my budget so the Toshiba RDXS32 sounds good

What are peoples experiance of the Toshiba RDXS32 or other recorders for

    1) DVD Layer Changes
    2) DVD Menu speed
    3) Noise (Mech & Fan)
