Can anyone recommend the best RC software for my PPC (Dell Axim X5).

Also, I believe the X5 has a pretty poor IR range, so can anyone recommend a good CF IR extender?

Any URLs to the relevant products would be much appreciated.

    Thanks

Have you seen TV Remote controller from PDAWIN: www.pdawin.com. Allows you to use Pronto CCF's.

I use it with an iPAQ 2210 to control my gear.

Yes, downloaded a trial now. Seems really good.

Need to find a CF IR range extender that will work with it now though as the IR range on my X5 is pretty poor.

If you need an extender and software, then ultramote is the obvious choice at www.ultramote.com. Not very expensive either

The software that comes with Ultramote is rubbish from what I can tell. I have been told by a few sources now that the Ultramote extender works well with PDAWin's TW Remote Controller, so I think I will buy it to go with that as it seems much better software.

I'd like to hear from anyone who has the Ultramote Extentder though as I'd like to know what sort of range and radius it has. Does it have to be pointing directly at the device or can it just be vaguely in that direction?

Fair enough, but you will need to buy the software anyway. I tried to buy the extender without the software. I even had a legit 16 digit code from a PDA, but because they had no record of me buying the software, the order was refused the day after I ordered it, so had to order both

Order a PDAir from www.laser.com - although there may be only a few left now at best - and the PPC version of Remote Control II from www.wincesoft.de

You won't go far wrong with the above.

On the iPAQ, it doesn't close programs down when you switch it off so, if I've been using TV Remote, I just switch the iPAQ off and, next time I switch it on, TV Remote is already running - makes it nice and easy to use, particularly for my wife.
