Best quality for viewing dvd HDMI or component

    Ok which gives the best quality from a dvd? HDMI or Component connections? i have had conflicting responses to this as soem sources says HDMI is best suited for hidef television broadcasts.

    HDMI, no question .. if all else is equal then passing the video in digital form from DVD to display has to be better than doing D->A and A->D conversions, except perhaps with top-end equipment with very expensive DACs and even then I don't see how the HDMI path could be inferior.

    That comment about HDMI being 'best suited for hidef' is, IMHO, meaningless :), that fact that it is 'best' for hidef (even if I accepted that, which I don't), has no bearing on its' ability to carry SD material.

    It could be interesting to see the context in which you saw that comment.
