I just got my white Japanese PSP...gorgeous. So now I need a couple of games to start me off. What do you guys recommend? Any UK/JAP/US games considered. Star Wars Battlefront II looks good.

    Any suggestions?

Yep, i'd go along with that. Its the only game ive played properly since i got my PSP. Each person i know who owns it is pretty well hooked on it. Great fun & very challenging towards the end.

    Burnout Legends
Ridge Racers - finished 100%
    Everybodys Golf
GTA: LCS (you need 2.0 or above)
Star Wars Battlefront II if you can handle the "Coded Arms" interface

Winning Eleven 9 (or PES5 when it finally  gets the release here at the end of november!)
    Everybody's Golf
Gripshift (vastly underrated and an amazing game)

They are my top three! :D

    Notable mention:

    Namco Museum
    Ridge Racers
    Wipeout
    Mercury
    Lumines
Ape Academy (again vastly underrated!!! :( )

Virtua tennis is good, but aside from updated characters, I can't see the difference between that and the dreamcast version, which also looks a whole load better than the psp version??

There are the usual EA fayre as well such as burnout, ssx, fifa et. al., but they don't really rock my world like the other games. It is just more of the same, but then I have main consoles for that. I want my handhelds to offer me something a little different! :D

That is exactly why I'm thinking of getting a Nintendo DS.

The PSP may have superb looks and spanky graphics but the majority of the games are either recycled home fare, mind numbingly shallow or just plain crap.

Everybody's Golf is the only reason to own a PSP at the moment.

I would not recommend BF2. :thumbsdow

I would however recommend Medievil. :smashin:  The game has lovely graphics, excellent sound and good humour throughout.

The ds is a good console, but suffers from lack of games (surprise surprise for a nintendo console  ) But there are a few diamonds in the rough.

Meteos is fantastic, made by the same people who made lumines, but meteos is a much better game IMHO.
Kirby is a fantastic game, very short, but utilises the touch screen well.
Castlevania looks great, haven't had chance to play it though.
Advance Wars is a good game, very short, and only has snes graphics which is very disappointing TBH, thought they might have made more of an effort.

There are some other, very original games out there as well, such as:
Trauma Centre where you play a surgeon, and use the touch screen to remove organs, tumours etc,
Phoenix Wright, Ace Attorney where you use the mic and touch screen as a lawyer of all things! :D
Nintendogs which is basically a dog tamagotchi, very shallow game however, could have been a whole lot better!

I'm thinking of getting one for:

Trace Memory - Yay, a point and click adventure where you have to point and click ;)
Lost In Blue - Another adventure game
    Mario Kart - Portable classic

+ some of the games you've mentioned, I'm an adventure game fan and the PSP is severely lacking anything decent in that genre at the moment.

Really though I can't wait for the Revolution - At last, something different...
