two questions before i buy
1.can anyone confirm if this is the 2100 batch or 2003 batch
2.being greedy here but is there a better deal than this anywhere else

just popped into hmv earlier since i was walking by (think i've been in there 3 times in 2 weeks) and saw some different ps3 deals on. one notable one was 120gb ps3 + 2 games for £255/£265 i think. it did have a sticker saying 'all this for' then the price, had image of two games and the text said 'and' not 'or' like the offer below. couldnt stop to ask as I was already gonna be late for work.

I plan to upgrade my phat to slim as soon as i get back to the UK in a few weeks. A 120GB console with a couple of games like Heavy Rain and GOW 3 would be nice

Hi, I have seen the 250gb console with 2 free games, the two I can remember are GOW and Heavy Rain. This is in Sainsbury's for £284.99 - hope this is of use to someone. :)

sounds to me like better deals are to be had in store (re: Sainsburys and HMV posts above) than on the 'net.

The Zavvi one sounds good though, plus you can get another 2% off through quidco.

1. I shouldn't worry about which batch you get as I bought the Sainsbury deal a couple of weeks ago (250 GB Fifa World Cup 2010 and Heavy Rain for £284/£256 with a friends staff discount:thumbsup:) and it was the 2003 batch which to me is very quiet and It dosen't seem to get too hot either...though compared to my 360 a jet plane would sound quiet!!!

Again found on quidco: 8% cashback on all sales (ex-VAT price) and 10% off if you open up a credit account (code: xx829). Sounds a little complicated but that's a big saving there. They have the standard ps3 packages as well as many bundle deals

Hi All, long time user first time contributor!! :hiya:

I have been scouting PS3 deals for ages (via this site).
Have noticed recently that 250gb versions have been oos in lots of places...

Also I saw the Zavvi deal above but was OOS for a while - with Red Dead redemption - thats a great deal for 120gb version.

The best 250gb deal IMO: Tesco Direct

PS3 250gb Slim
Modnation Racers
Assassins Creed 2
HDMI Cable
£284

You can get 3% back on Quidco - about £8. You get double Clubcard points. I used clubcard vouchers too to pay some off total.
I know alot of people are after the new 2100 series - I can confirm mine was this newer model. I wasn't that fussed but it was a nice bonus.
Also - I ordered on Sunday & it was delivered to store for free - ready to collect Monday afternoon - so very good service.

As always with a bundle - its never games which you would really 'choose'. I want Assasins creed so thats good. Modnation - I will probably trade in at gamestation - they offer £22. Or just eBay it for £30+.

i've just bought my ps3 from hmv, not the best value but they did let me choose any £39.99 game with a 120gb for £249.99. i got heavy rain, could have got red dead but i already have it.
it was the 2103 version, i do feel nerdy asking for a specific model. they probs think that i will make a switch with a broken model

Seems like the 120Gb is out of stock everywhere! I guess it's just Sony keeping supply low so that they can justify the pricetag.

Anyway popped into local GameStation and they have a bundle on the 120Gb with 4 games for £289.99 - it's on their website. Point is that the manager was really helpful and offered to swap the games in at full current selling price and give me store credit for the value.

So you can trade in South Africa and UFC, which will give you £40 + £32 = £72. The other 2 games are worth about £15 together. So total of £87 store credit to do with what you will. I thought just load up on hardware, like a controller and headset etc. Then buy the games online cheaper.

Finally got mine, from Gamestation... these 120Gb's are very short on stock everywhere right now!

Paid £328 for:
120Gb console
2 Dual shock 3 controllers
HDMI cable
Extra controller charging cable
Bluetooth headset
BlueRay remote control
Street fighter 4 and Dantes Inferno

Must admit I'm quite chuffed with that!

Had a look around today on the highstreet and i have to say that console bundles are pretty shoddy. Most coming with 1 game at most.

Best kinda deal i saw was £289 in Gamestation which was a 120GB Model, UFC 2010, Latest footie game, Dead Space and Need for Speed i think. Problem is that i don't want ANY of those games.

May see if they would consider swapping as the newest 2 games at £40 a pop i would swap for GOD3 and Heavy Rain. Then they 2 older ones are what £15 each new? So maybe swap for Killzone 2 and Infamous.

What also surprised me is that they are giving away a games from a selection of 4 including Red Dead Redemption for £10 but only when you buy a pre-owned console. If they did that to new ones too making the 5 games for £299 a cracking deal.

I have a regular 80GB model and i want to upgrade but want loads of games that i've missed out on the past year

Benchy read my previous 2 posts. What you want to do is exactly what i did - I didn't want any of those 4 games so they swapped them in for currently retail value (total approx £80 now I think) and you can use that to by whatever else from that store, including 2nd hand games.

I tried swapping but they wouldn't have it in Gamestation, they said to trade them in which would probably get me no more than £50 :(

Ah shame that, they must only do it at the manager's discretion or something. I got mine from Slough, though had to wait a few weeks until the 120Gb came back into stock.

You're right about the bundle deals, they are awful at the moment.

Yeah, best deal I managed was £289.99 for 250gb, Modnation racers, and uncharted 2 :/

Was a better deal in tesco (in store) for 250gb, modnation racers, and choice of 2 games from 6 (including uncharted 2, assassins creed 2, killzone 2? and a couple others cant remember) for £284.99. Although, they never have it in stock, so I just gave up with tesco as the staff on their computer department were rude and didn't care, we got some bad food from tesco the other week too.

So if anyone fancies popping into their tesco they might find that deal.

Thats another thing i noticed, seems like the 250GB models seem to have the better deals/bundles than the 120GB models. Grrrr

OK, Got my PS3 Slim and i reckon i got a killer deal.

I got a 120GB Model with UFC 2010 for £249.99

Traded in UFC2010 and Little Big Planet in for £21 and got Red Dead Redemption for only £13.

Then, cos i was dealing with the manager he let me have a load of pre-owned games on the cheap. :)

God of War 3 usually £30 and i got it for £20
Heavy Rain usually £27 and i for it for £22
God of War Collection usually £25 and i got it for £20
Bioshock 2 usually £15 and got it for £10
GTA Liberty Stories usually £27 and got it for £22

So for a total of £357 i got a 120GB PS3 and 6 games i really wanted. Im more than happy with that :smashin:

About as good as anything at the minute.

In the US the PS3 is priced at $299 which is the same US price as the 360S. In the UK the average price for a PS3 is £249 and the 360S is £199 so Sony are basically over charging the UK market by £50. I suppose that could mean a price drop is forthcoming...
