I'm probably about to buy either a Hitachi 55PMA550E or a Pioneer PDP504HDE. I've got a SONY DVP-NS900V DVD player, but I'd like to upgrade to something DVI based for the new screen. I don't want to spend more than a few hundred quid, as I guess I'll be upgrading to a High-Def disk player when they are eventually released.

    Any recommendations?

    Pana S97 (£150), Denon 1910 (£185), Samsung 745/945 (£100/£150).

Pretty happy with Samsung, compared against the others (favourably), MR and upscales in component too. Don't touch Cambridge DVD79 great PQ terrible lip synch issues.

Bought Sammy it as a interim player until HD arrives properly !

Does the job and its cheap ........................

Meridian G91, best DVD player I have ever seen. (£3,895)

If you're spending thousands on a screen why not treat yourself?

Samsung HD745. Cheap, excellent picture quality, plays everything and is a great stop gap till Blu-Ray/HD-DVD.

I'm extremely impressed with my new Denon DVD 2910.
