Best Price/Place for an iPhone 3GS unlock?

I was wanting to know whether I was able to get my 3GS unlocked for a better price or elsewhere than 02?

It was bought second hand and what I presumed was on contract too but the owner didn't want to go to the hassle of getting it unlocked so I was wondering if I would be able to still get it unlocked for free from O2 (even though I am not the contract holder) or if there are any places which provide a better price than what O2 do?

I had a feeling that was going to be the answer as I was worried that most independent phone shops and kiosks would just jailbreak unlock it and charge for it when I could just do it myself.

Are you able to point me in the direction for O2's unlocking service as my searches online have been hit and miss and didn't know whether it could be done online or if I had to go instore.
