    Hi,

I am looking for either a DV88Plus or a DV89. I beleive the official list prices are respectively £1000 and £1300.

Does anyone know where I can get the best price for them?

    Thanks

    Yan

    Hi,
I had the same question as you yesterday so did a 'google' search.
There seems to be no competition around for ARCAM for some reason (could be type of product - well off persons DVD player), but if you check on the ex-demos from sevenoaks + several other major retailers you can find the DV88+ for £699.
    No sign of the DV89.
Even RICHERSOUNDS charge the standard price for the DV88 and they are not even a proper dealer.
I was tempted by RICHER purely due to having the possiblity £165 worth of 50% buyback on my previous DVD player from 2.5 years ago.
One other thing, I was considering the DV88+ and upgrading in a year or 2 but consider this:
    DV88+ retail - £1000
    DV89 retail - £1300
DV88+ upgrade to DV89 - £650 according to other posts.
Seems not to quite add up.

Good luck, and don't buy all the ex-demos I want one too.

    Steve.
    :)

    Careful - most ex-demo models will be a DV88, not a DV88+.

This costs £350 not £650 as suggested above. The latter price is to upgrade an (older) DV88 model. Note both upgrades are factory fits.

DV89s are in the shops BTW but availability is still a little bit limited. We are working on this as I write - should make a hole in the back order list by the end of the week.

    John,
Sorry, I may have misread a much earlier thread.
I did not wish to mislead anyone.

This information and some of todays other threads have made my decision much easier anyway.
As the upgrade is a sensible price then the DVD88+ sounds like a sensible plan for the future.
Unless I can find the FMJ27 player anywhere to demo in the Midlands before I commit.

    Steve.:)
