Dunno if you'll find a cheaper price than that but you can get the Denon 2802 for £499.95 from Superfi

I bought my 3802 from hifijunkies back in December and would reccommend them.

It says 'black in stock' on website. Is the gold also available? I'm so tempted to bung it on my credit card as i'm selling my db1070 for £265 tommorow.

    I am with mine.

Had it nearly 6 months now, use it with the KET KHT 2005 & an extra egg for the 6.1

Does everything I want it to and I feel it still has something else to give should I want to pump it up a bit.

My friends (mostly non audiophiles) are always very impressed by the sound so I guess that should be a good recommendation.

    Regards

Couldn't be happier, went from a Sony DB930 which in all fairness was a good receiver and retailed for not much less than the 3802. Wasn't expecting much of an improvement but got a big increase in clarity and punch. The Sony would struggle at moderate-high volume giving a very muddled sound, particularly noticible in the dialogue. The Denon stays clean and precise all the way up, voices stay distinct and separated from the music/effects instead of muddling in like they did on the sony. 2CH audio is also superb, vocals have more character, every little buzz of a guitar string is heard whereas it was lost before.

Great service/price from hifijunkies also, very friendly.

That's good to hear. I've got a Sony 930 and am considering an upgrade although it only powers the centre and rear channels in my setup - the L+R Castle Harlech's are powered by a Musical Fidelity P180 and Audiolab 8000S in preamp mode.

I'm considering the Denon 3802 or the Arcam AVR200. Might need a demo to decide which is for me!

Nigel did the diplay on your sony 930 evey go 'corrupted'? Groups of pixels on the display would be dull while others bright, would only happen when displaying the sound field/mode etc. not when showing the selected input, strange. Mine was destroyed by lightening btw. The Denon seems to run at a similar temp to the 930 also.

Had mine a couple of years and no problems with the display. Maybe it's because I only use it for movies so it doesn't get switched on permanently like my other equipment.
