Best player software for playback of Dolby Atmos/DTS etc?

Novice Member
Hi guys,

Currently I use VLC to play movies. When I play an ATMOS movie file, my AV receiver shows and displays "ATMOS" on the front panel.

I am guessing that means all is working ok?

However, is there another software you AV "gurus" use that does a better job than VLC that I should be using?

VLC is as good as any buddy although I use MPC-HC with MadVR for HDR passthrough on my system.

Add, yes, if your AVR is reporting TrueHD / ATMOS / DTSX... correctly then your system is correctly outputting the bitstream that your AVR is then correctly decoding.
