Having just had to get a refund on a new JVC DIST tv im startin to think that maybe ill only be happy unless i get what i really want.....a plasma!!
For me the screen will be mainly used for games consoles/PC and DVD with very little general tv.

What is the best plasma around at the mo that will best meet my AV needs? Also, will there be any major price drops in the near future?

    Thanks.

    Hi, I've got a hitachi PMA400E,
I use it mainly as a monitor, but being a game developer as well, I quite extensively use it to play games also.

Well, Im still looking for the perfect configuration but it seems to me that this plasma is still missing something, except if you play with component cable and progressive scan. (few games out there support it). Then the result is absolutely impressive, I've never been so impressed, really.

I use tha panny 6 for my xbox and find it to be superb!!!!! connected via component ables using hi-def kit.

Only thing i would say, is i have 2 picture settings, one for day time and one for night time, as i find the screen is alot darker during the day......not too sure why but will post a question later to get others ideas.

    Matravers,

Where did you get your hi-def kit? I assume you mean component?

    Thanks

yeah, the hi-def kit is component, it is not the official microsoft one but the gamester model that is sold over here.

Anyway, i bought mine from GAME, every now and then you see them on the shelves, my local GAME had one about 3 months before i got my plasma and it was on sale for 14.99 so i just bought it then as i knew i would use it in the future.

it also has the optical out on it for Dolby, is quite big but, if you use a plasma i suppose it is well worth the buying.

I happily use my LG14 42" for X-box , Cube and PC gameing with great results on all formats. Got to use a wireless mouse and keyboard for the PC though which can be a bit tricky while loungeing on my Lazyboy recliner :)

Neil what are those orange lines on your screen? I presume it's just something to do with the photograph?

I've got (I think) the same hi-def kit component cables for xbox...

Well, it sux big time on mine.
Huge vertical bandings all across the screen, on dark scenes it gets ridicolous, utterly horrible.

    anyone experienced the same?

    ziocleto,

No i don't experience anything like that, but i do use very good component cables and not the ones package (if you are that might be the problem).
Althoug, in fairness i would not worry too much as the picture improvement i think is relatively nominal, only really noticable on strong colours i find.
