    Hello All,

What with all the usual stock shortages on the XBOX 360 and PSP, I was wondering where would be the best place to pre-order the PS3 which im waiting for over the new xbox.

In general what stores online or otherwise..are reliable and have great prices.

I used to have every console released, but havent been following the trends for a few years.....until the PS3 was annouced, which is going to be the centre piece of all my new AV equipment!

The old we cant make them fast enough routine everytime a new console is released is starting to were a bit thin.....how dumb do they think we all are!!!!! :rotfl:

I'd give it another 6 months and ask again. Far too early to be thinking PS3. :)

I guess the large retailers like Amazon can do pre-order fairly earley. Or your local retailer. Whoever gets the pre-order forms first!

That launch date is in Japan - more than likely to be waiting far longer here in Europe.

Yeah, I'd wait for official pre-orders to appear, a best guess and possibly optimistic one too is that Europe won't see the PS3 until June or July, but sadly it's could be much later in the year.

I am certain though that Sony will not subject us to the drawn out launch times that the PS2 had, nor the PSP which by Sony's own admission was not what they wanted.

I think a staggered launch is still likely, but over a much shorter timespan. Due to Summer being a traditionally slow sales period I would have thought late Spring or early Autumn for us. Japan will be first though I reckon - simply because Sony will want to take a sales lead there as soon as possible and they shouldn't have too much trouble outselling Xbox360 over there. Then it'll be onto North America and Europe. Let's hope they have more consoles available at launch than MS have managed!

I think late 2006 is a more likely Uk launch date. There's no chance they'll have the PS3 ready for a March/April Uk launch....or Jap/USA for that matter. Probably May/June in Japan, Sept USA.

maybe experience from the launch of the PSOne, or PS2, or PSP. lol. Anyone expecting a Pal version of the PS3 next year is being seriously optomistic to sya the least imho.

I think it depends on how successfull the 360 worldwide launch is.

If it goes smoothly than it will set the standard that both Sony and Nintendo will have to match.

If either delays the launch in the US and UK, as has traditionaly been the case than I can imagine it being a pr disaster for both.

But I guess only time will tell.

The PS3 will come out over here Christmas 06 at the earliest i'd say! It's not even due out in Japan until April time. The PSP was released Christmas 04 in Japan and hit UK stores September 05. The PS2 had a similar delay.

We don't yet have a clue how much it will even cost (estimates around the £400 mark but they are just estimates) or what the joypads will actually be like yet.

I really wouldn't worry about pre-ordering this yet :smashin: .

Indeed, i'm sure they will aim for a pre -christmas launch (say 6 months after Japan and not the 9 month wait that the PSP had).

Nintendo have stated they will try and do a worldwide release of the Revolution. I think personally, no matter how well 360 does with its launch, ps3 will still have a staggered release. Wouldn't they rather sell them mostly in Japan at first, and keep their customers happy, rather than supply us europeans, who aren't expecting the console anyway?

As for the actual initial question, personally I prefer preordering from an actual shop. You then know exactly where you are in the queue (well i preordered from gamestation for the 360, and know i'm second, not so sure bout GAME people) and you can just go in and pick it up at midnight. Pretty much everything is cheaper on the net, but I think consoles are one the rare things that aren't, and maybe infact, you will find stores doing better bundles that say the likes of Gameplay or Amazon. I will get a PS3 no doubt, but I'm gonna hold off till Gamestation start taking preorders. In the mean time, 360 baby!

I think Sony are being far too confident and cocky with the PS3 - rumoured to have no unified online play, a late witner release for the fastest growing market (Europe) likely, a terrible looking joypad, and an extremely high rumoured price tag. Don't get me wrong, I'll certainly be purchasing one (along with my pre-ordered 360), but I think they need to sort their act out. I predict the Xbox 360 to win the next gen race unless Sony pull their socks up.

To answer the original question ;) the best place to pre-order new consoles from IMO is Toys R Us. They are excellent.

Generally I have always found Amazon to be superb but I will see how well they deal with my 360 order first. ;)

Certainly with the chaos with the 360 launch were going to see the best companies deliver (literally) next friday..

With the PS3 being more staggered (months between Japan/US/Europe launch) those who handle the 360 preorders should handle the PS3 preorders with much ease.

Try here - pre order ps3

There were a couple of merchants taking pre orders, but they've stopped now as nobody really knows what the price will be in November. It all very much depends on the value of the Yen against the Pound.

I find play are usually good...but think they lost a bit of cred with the launch of the 360.
