    Hi guys,

sorry if this has been asked before, but can someone advise what is the best sound and PQ version of the classic 1987 Arnie film on blu ray or dvd? (region 2)

There are a few different versions of the movie on disc on amazon.co.uk ( I have no use for 3D version ) but not sure which is best - Amazon.co.uk: predator: DVD & Blu-ray

    Many thanks lads

    :)

The best one is the original now OOP BD release, this was replaced a few years ago by the Ultimate Hunter Edition which is god awful and a perfect example of how DNR can ruin a film.

It is a nice steelbook though! And worth it for the extras (but not the film!)

I wonder how long into blu-ray ultra HD's life cycle it'll be until we finally get a HD master worthy of this classic. Sometime never?

Perhaps when the new film comes out they will try milking more money from it and finally give it the treatment it deserves but I wouldn't hold your breath.

I have both of the UK versions and the one you have is the best so far (in my opinion), hopefully though in a few years time we might get an anniversary remastered edition done properly.

My God, the bloke who wrote that comparison actually thinks the version with DNR is the best the film has ever looked...

There are still people who will say that Blu-ray is no better than DVD and not to waste your money.

Is the DNR version the sharper image on those side by side comparison stills on that AVP galaxy webpage?

I bought the waxworks (aka Ultimate Hunter) version by mistake, it's pretty bad. :(
A few scenes look ok, but close ups of faces are horrendous.
