in your opinion what dvd player is the absolute best perfoming player in the sub £160 category. must be component or hdmi and will be connected to a projector. i am really undecided as to what player to go for as i read one review and it gets raved about then read an article by someone who has one complaining about it! it will be replacing a toshiba sd220e which i think the picture is great, however the laser has worn out hence the change. any views................?

    Hi.
    I have a 220e, a Panasonic S97 and a Momitsu 880DX.
I think the 220e is on a par with the S97 (a recent, well regarded player) and better than the upscaling 880DX. If I could update the firmware on the 220, it would be my main player.

The S97 is a good machine though. (If you can find one).
