    The list isn't comprehensive enough.

    It should include :

    - Civilisation
    - Rome : Total War
    - Total Annihiliation
    - Half Life 2
    - The Sims
    - Championship Manager
    etc.

sorry squiffy, i know what you mean, but i was somewhat biased in creating the list, but oh well!!! Half Life never really did it for me much, dunno why!! was good tho but Deus EX really got me! I think it should really be a question of: "Whats the best PC game, Half Life or Deus EX??"

    I have to say:

The Homeworld series (HW, HW Cataclysm, HW 2),

    The Command and Conquer series.
(Red Alert 1 and 2, Tiberian Sun, Generals.
    NOT Renegade :suicide: )

    And the Ground Controll Series

These are what got me into PC gaming.

FPS wise, I would say the Unreal series,
    (Including Tournament)

Ghost Recon, Rainbow Six 3, Counter Strike and CS Source, Half Life 2 (not 1), Return To castle Wolfenstein, Doom series, Medal Of Honour (only the first one. The add ons suck)
    Call Of Duty.

There are tons I would rather see in this minuscule list of yours!

id vote if the options were better. as the man sinzer says system shock is such a genre defining game. imo that kicked off what he have today. id also give HL2 a think for the sheer brilliance and game engine and also Call of Duty for its atmosphere and memorble moments

edit : my god was it really 6 years ago  SS 2 that is

there should be at least one of the Looking Glass titles in the list:

Ultima underworld / Thief / System Shock

you could probably do the top 10 with just Valve, Looking Glass and Blizzard ;)

On this list Deus Ex gets my vote, as it is an awesome game. However, HL2 does beat all of them, and the Civ series does as well I would say.

anyone that hasn't played games on a win 3.x / Dos 6 or earlier machine .... should not be allowed to vote ;)

infact if you didn't get Wolfenstien 3D when it was first released (1992) = no vote :lesson:

We all there are many other games which one could include in this list, but I merely included those which I have heard the most love for. I have not included Half Life 2 because without a Half Life, there would be no Half Life 2, simple as.

As for theif, civ, system shock etc, all great, no fantastic games which i myself am a big fan of, but.............the four listed i personally believed changed gaming, Half Life brought masses to PC gaming, Deus EX engrossed millions with its beautiful story line and very believable conspiracy theories.
Quake upgraded first person shooters to a completey new level setting standards for the future. Sim City 2000 was also the game what brought the most unlikely of people into gaming by creating and managing your own city.

I wanted to include Unreal Tournament, but its annual episode it now getting on my nerves remind of something EA are very good at, Manufacturing games, not making them with passion.

Feel free to leave more comments and choose from the above of the four greatest games. :hiya:

Im from Saaarf Landan now, so END OF!!

My favourite ever PC game was Dungeon Keeper (1, not 2, which sucked).

Fantastic game, create a Dungeon, train up your evil minions and then slaughter the Heroes that try to destroy your dungeon. All the while awaiting the deep-voiced rumble that says "You do not have enough gold".

    True classic gaming!

Deus ex I think is still the best. Total annilation I installed yesterday to relive the memorys and it is still the best RTS.

Not many people have played this game but --PRIVATEER 2 THE DARKENING-- is an awsome game that is played in DOS (think there is a windows version but this game is 4cds). It is a space sim were u must buy your ship and upgrade it with lasers and gadgets by doing missions, u can also hire a cargo ship and go planet hopping buying goods to sell on other planets.the game features FMV staring clive owen and could be a movie itself. If you played freelancer by microsoft they just copyied that game to the very detail but it still isnt anywhere near as good.

Yeah the good old days of Doom I+II, Rise of the Triads (this was funny as hell in multiplayer), Duke Nukem, Heretic + Hexen, Eye of the Beholder, Mechwarrior 2, Monkey Island, Sam & Max, X-Wing, Populous (remember playing that on an 086, dam watching your men move around at 1 FPS was so funny!), Raptor, Jazz Jackrabbit (this was pretty awful!).....

So many good games and so much time spent creating boot disks just to play them!!!

I remember the day my uber geek friend's dad got himself a P60 with a 17" Illyama monitor, we made ourselves motion sick with Doom that day, his graphics card had something like 512K of RAM :)

Kind of going off topic now :(

    I'd say:
Simcity (the whole series really. SC4 is my favourite)
Civilization (again the whole lot, though i haven't played Civ3. CTP2 is my favourite)
    Themepark (Amiga 1200 version really)
Elite 2: Frontier (again the Amiga version, include First Enounters too, it's essentially an upgrade)
Unreal Tournament (only FPS game I've got into)

stop moaning and vote....the choice compromises of many great games, any others would simply not recieve enought votes to do themselves justice.

The choice is 4 games, and none of those would get my vote ! For instance I think Sim City 3000 was far better than 2000 so wouldn't vote for that.
