...so I am looking for suggestions on movies that have some excellent scenes to test and showcase the black level performance of JVC projectors and OLED TVs. The movie in general should have above average PQ.

    My list starts with:

    Gravity
    Interstellar
    Prometheus
    The Force Awakens
    The Dark Night

Interstellar would be incredible on a really big OLED 4K TV.

You should check out Under the Skin. Somewhat weird film and not exactly family friendly (you couldn't really use it as a test in a showroom in public view, for example), but some visually very striking scenes with white on a pitch black background to really test out dynamic range.

Oblivion should definitely be on there too if you're looking for excellent PQ with some scenes with a lot of black in them.

2001 Space Odyssey might also well be worth a look, but I've not yet watched it on BD to test it out.

My own votes would be for Oblivion and Tron:Legacy, Joseph Kosinski likes his deep blacks :)

Tron sounds good I have to check it out:) 2001 needs a remaster the blacks are really grayish unfortunately.

Interstellar is incredible on the JVC.

Ooh, I forgot about Tron:Legacy - good call!

It's also an excellent test of any sound reproduction equipment that may be in the system.

Another one for the list, just watched the Black and Chrome Edition of Mad Max: Fury Road. The deepest of blacks and stonking Atmos goodness :)

Excuse my ignorance but where did you see low APL in that movie? I know it inside out but I cannot remember much of that.

Forgot Pacific Rim. It's stunning and colors on the UHD disc is something to behold and the best 3D to date IMO.

    You're not ignorant, I am, I don't know what APL means :)

I just thought the black and white version of Fury Road had nice deep blacks.
