Just got a 3TB Western Digital My book live NAS drive, drive seems to work OK, but cannot Get wd's backup software to recognise the drive, reading peoples comments on Amazon n elsewhere, it's a common problem, has anyone with a MBL used alternate NAS freeware successfully ?

Had a quick search, I've seen Freenas & todo,
Any suggestions would be great thanks.

Can't comment on the WDL, but those using Mountain Lion and a NAS for TM backups are currently awaiting their NAS makers to undate firmware in order to repair broken TM support. I tend not to use third party backup solutions with a Mac and use TM, but if using ML and a NAS for TM backups then you may need to update the NAS's firmware or wait for an update to be made available.

I myself have had issues in relation to Mountain Lion and my NAS:

My mistake. For some unknown reason I thought you'd posted in relation to a Mac

Sorry I couldn't offer you a solution and hope someone else can ;)
