Was going through some videos earlier and ended up watching some of my all time favourite movie trailers, some highlights:

X-Men: Days of Future Past Trailer

The Social Network Trailer

The Dark Knight Trailer

Inception Trailer 2

Star Wars: The Force Awakens Final Trailer

There were some other truly great trailers but I didn't want to overload the opening post with them all.

What are some of your all time favourite trailers? Or what trailers do you think are the best that have been made?

I still watch the Casino Royale trailer now and again. I still love it...

”Will you yield, in time?”

“Get the girl out”

“Everything I am, you’ve stripped it from me”

Okay granted, it's the teaser (and a specially shot one at that) rather than a full trailer, but way back in 1990, this appeared at a screening I was at. Beyond excited didn't even cover it! Remember, at this point, there was only one Terminator film in existence...

I've got a huge affinity for this first Alien 3 trailer (hence the avatar). It was during a screening for the very tepid Bugsy, that this was first shown. Having a call of nature during the adverts, I returned to see my mates grinning like idiots, and bantering that I had just missed the first ALIEN 3 footage! This was age way before you could just YouTube it, and remember being genuinely gutted at the time! When I finally clapped eyes on it some time later, it was everything I hoped for - An imposing voiceover! A shaven head Ripley! Explosions! Xenomorphs! That music! Until I saw the final product of course...;)

The Force Awakens trailer above is a great shout for recent times.

First 45 secs are fantastic. I remember watch it many times. Less so the actual film:rotfl:

Rather liked this one too:

The Alien and Cloverfield Trailers are superb too.

Love this teaser too:

Another case of the final product not remotely measuring up, but there's this -

I had no idea it was being launched, and just happened across it on BBC breakfast time news. Needless to say, I practically choked on my corn flakes as it aired. I cant imagine seeing such an affecting trailer again.

Maybe the most exhilarating 2 minutes of footage I'd ever experienced at the time. I was beside myself with excitement. Sadly we all know what happened...

I think this first trailer for Mad Max : Fury Road takes some beating as modern trailers go. It's beautifully edited with the accompanying music. The shot of Furiosa dropping to her kness, and the scream being masked by the score is some stellar stuff right there. And the film actually lived up to it!

Cast yourself back to a time before the hate ( :D ), and how we were all so looking forward to it:

Three movies that felt like more of an experience than a mere film.

This one still makes me smile - the trailer that ripped apart every other trailer ever made.

Not one anyone else will likely think of, but I thought this was superb. The use of music is one of the best I've ever seen in a trailer too.

And the film delivered. Tremendous.

Came to post this.

Never before or since have I been so excited for a film.

For me, this Lord of the Rings trailer was amazing.
We'd simply never seen this kind of cinematic world building before, and it was amazing to see this first glimpse.
Took me hours to download this in HD on dialup, and I burnt it into a CD to take round my mates houses.
These days we get blasé about such effects, but as a Tolkien reader this blew my mind.

No one posted this? Way better than the film and one of the best trailers I've ever seen.

A couple of my favourites from back in the day. The original teaser for superman made me believe a man really could fly .(I was 8 or 9 at the time)
