Question Best media player at the moment?

    Whats curently considered the best 4k media player at the moment?
    Is there such a player which can do any file thrown at it?

    Budget around £150

    Nvidia shield TV, which can be had for £159 on amazon at the moment

    There really isn't a 'one size fits all' or 'The best' with media players as so many people want different things. Plus with a budget of £150 you are bypassing a lot of good but more expensive players, and in most cases you really do get what you pay for with media players.

    So what are your priorities for the player:
    • Streaming your own media - and if so from a NAS, internal or USB/eSATA connected HDD?
    • Internet streaming using YouTube, Netflix, Amazon Prime etc.?
    • Internet streaming of rented or purchased films & TV?
    • Etc.

    A media player is not like a PC where you just run a program that can play any new video format that might get released. Instead all the playback is decoded in the SoC so if a specific media type is not listed then the chances are it isn't supported and is likely to never be added to that specific player.
