from what i have read on this fantastic forum, choosing a tv larger than a 32" 16:9 comes down to a compromise of what faults you can live with. for me picture is the most important element.

am i right in thinking that watching a 4:3 in 16:9 mode causes no geometry problems? if so

    1) what is the best 4:3 tv ?
    2) is 29" as big as they go (excluding rear projections)?

P.S. I live in ireland, which means :-
    no free to air digital
    ntl digital has no teletext
sky digital is not hooked up to phone lines
mitsubishi black diamonds are available (infact they are being pushed by that donkey Mick Mc Carthy at the moment)
Unlike Mick, i'd like to have these issues resolved before the start of the world cup.

    cheers.

I've got a 29" 4:3 Sony, it's pretty darn big, if your watching mainly 4:3 material this is plenty big enough. However, if you want to watch a lot of 16:9 then the size is obviously smaller, with black lines above and below the picture - about the same size as a 27" widescreen - which is why I'm going to get me a widescreen as I have just had cable digital installed!
